Dynamic Reflection unveils its eleventh digital-only release to date in the form of Woo York’s “Bulava” EP, containing no less than three original tracks by the Ukraine-based production duo and a remix by label-residents Abstract Division. 

First up is “Wogen”, a fine piece of subtle, evolving techno. Elegant, distinctive percussion carefully bedded upon a filtered, grainy fundament and driven forward by a simple, yet deadly efficient rhythm section. Perfect opener for the EP as well as for any warm-up set.

Abstract Division complete the A-side with their take on “Wogen”, letting as it were the original’s raw side surface through a portrayal of its rougher edges. By keeping intact characterizing rhythmic elements while altering their function within the track, Abstract Division provides an A-grade alternative to its already outstanding original cousin.

Flipping the EP over opens the doors for “Iskra”, which has already been creating quite a bit of buzz for itself and rightfully so. It harnesses a hard-to-find kind of drive that develops into a wonderful playful funk-soaked interplay of stabs and perc as the track progresses. It’s one of those cuts that proves great techno is still so very much about the right loop and a less-is-more attitude. Play at peaktime and watch the floor get down!

“Bulava” closes down with “Tanzen Im Mondlicht”, a beauty whose warm stabs and powerful bassline are likely to appeal to a broad audience of both techno-adepts and those perhaps looking for something a little bit housier. Class!
Woo York clearly know their game and are on top of it; this latest Dynamic Reflection release is an expose of their skill, diversity and authenticity as proof.

February's episode on the MindTrip Podcast welcomes Swedish techno icon Joel Mull. Joel is one of the main artists who pushed Stockholm's underground scene forward since the mid '90s. He is among the very few who believed that techno would be the music of tomorrow and he clearly proved that with his musical career over the last two decades releasing numerous albums and EPs with his percussive signature sound on labels like Harthouse, Truesoul, Parabel, Dystopian while showcasing his DJing skills at the biggest clubs all over the world. Today Joel is finishing his new album that will be soon released on the label A Strangely Isolated Place under his alias Damm. Abstract Division is a long-standing collaboration of Paul Boex and Dave Miller, a Dutch electronic music producer and DJ duo. Next to running their label Dynamic Reflection and its sub-label Morphologies, they stimulated the Dutch underground scene with their well-known DECODE parties.

With over 30 years of collective experience under their belt, the established duo of Abstract Division is bringing deep, hypnotic and energetic techno sets to any club, rave or festival. They have performed at prominent festivals like Awakenings, Monegros Desert Festival, Time Warp, BAUM Festival, Audioriver, Loveland and some of the best venues including Berghain, Fuse, Fabrik Madrid, RSO, Radion and many more.

During many years of collaboration, the duo managed to create their own unique sound. Their in-depth knowledge of sound engineering enables them to release year after year refreshing productions and each new track marks a subtle evolution in sound.
