After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.

Seeing as it's Halloween its only fitting we give you a treat.
This treat is the first B2B in the FOCUS series which is put together by Chris and Grace Warmington also known as Dj Magnum and TKD GAL a Father and Daughter duo hailing from oxford.

I stumbled across a stream of Magnum a few months back and loved what I was hearing and started following him then a few days later him and TKD GAL were live on DNB Run Come, Grace is 11 years old and has been tearing up the decks for about two months.

This combo/duo is not something you find everyday Chris has a passion for mixing and has done for the past twenty years, Grace has seen that passion and has been inspired to start mixing herself, The name TKD GAL represents her five year dedication to Taekwondo which is mind blowing in itself. Magnum has a weekly live stream with Bloc 2 Bloc entertainment every Saturday 2-3pm as well as a monthly slot on Dose radio under the alias True F'RMs four Artists under one name, Magnum, Flex, Ricky D & Swyndla they have regular live streams on the midnight massacre facebook page and are regular guests on the monthly Jumped up Audio show at Rough Tempo.

Magnum and TKD have a live stream every Monday 6-7pm with DNB Run Come and its amazing to see them progress together and interact with the audience, Chris is immensely proud of her and and you can see that when they are mixing together, TKD Gal is hoping to have her own live stream at some point in the future and with her fathers guidance I can imagine it wont be too far off.

These two are crazy busy and Im so glad they managed to get a mix sent over for the series, Chris has been working on some production the past few months so we could be hearing some future releases so make sure you follow the socials and show these two some support.
