Nobuharu Morimoto debuts on Unrilis with a hypnotic techno EP with flowing rhythms.

Hailing from Japan, Nobuharu Morimoto is based in Tokyo where he is a resident DJ at two of the city's leading techno events, plug, and OUTSIDER. He has a dynamic style, ranging from Detroit-inspired deep techno to high-velocity tracks with driving energy.

This is Nobuharu Morimoto's first time working with Unrilis, and he joins the record label following music on other respected imprints.

"Hina Matsuri" has a heads-down groove where rattling hi-hats overlay the morphing tones of the playful lead synth, and the rumbling bassline augments the hammering kick drum.

This sample pack contains 150 sequences designed entirely with my small 64hp Eurorack system and inspired by raw techno genres.

Once recorded and edited in Ableton Live, sequences have been processed with High-End Plugins (UAD, Softube, Waves, PA…) for dynamic control and color.

The idea behind this sample pack Is to provide elements for tracks that can be used as they come, and that can be edited as well. Chop them, process them, duck them… be creative and do not just leave the sequences as they are. Even though they have been processed already, you can further explore with your favorite plugins and discover new sounds as happened to me in creating the demo loops.

We are very happy to welcome the talented Swedish artist Axling as a new member of our family. Making his debut at the label with a package of exceptional productions, showing his characteristic raw and analog sound in each of them. Starting with "[1010]" a cut loaded with movement where he makes very good use of the classic bleep by dividing it into two parts, a low and a much more treble one, thus creating a complex and contagious rhythmic pattern. On the second track we have "Screen" with an imposing kick and an envelope sub bass as predominant elements that accompany the very well programmed synth arpeggio and 909 hi hats sequence. We continue with "10 sec to panic" a track of a more progressive character and influenced by that sound that was so popular in the raves of the late 90s, where the artist boldly leaves the comfort zone without losing his distinctive touch. "End Signal" is another organic cut, that many would describe as Loop or Hypnotic Techno, which uses that old and effective formula where doing more with less is the main rule. Finally we find "Closing Phase" a track of more gray nuances and background reverberated sounds, perfect to close any set and be the icing on the cake in this release.

Lighting up the path towards trance-like daze and introspection, MSDMNR’s unapologetically raw and powerful blends have been supplying the most quality-driven channels ever since he's made his first steps into the game. Hot on the heels of his recent ‘Emergency’ EP for 30D Records, Miro strikes again with his newest solo effort, ‘Galaxy Warning’ - a quintet of laser-guided depth charges aimed at lifting you off to farther, stranger spheres and dimensions with a wave of glossed-up 909 kicks, spooky synth ostinatos and supple-kneed acid squelch.

Going in thick and fast, the title-track ‘Galaxy Warning’ punches in with a tuff’n’gritty melange of angular rhythm, octave-shifting cascades of distorted chimes and all-out bursts of percussive frenzy. Eerie to the core, MSDMNR’s sound dwells the grey-zone betwixt dubbed-out industrial and subaquatic 4/4 abstraction, which this EP invites us to explore under a new light. More straightforward an affair but equally jacking, ‘Inflator’ reels out automated sequences of gridlocked shuffle and hypnotising sonar-like machine talk - as emulated in the mind-bending ‘Analysis No.3’, tailored to whip up madness amongst the ravers with its never-ending tides of intertwined bleepin’ and bloopin’ chords and ominous drones straight out the ocean's darkest layers.

A true scorcher from the deep, ’Second Signal’ cranks up the heat a notch further with its abrasive batucada of steely drums, red-hot pistons waltz and binary organ melody. Quite clearly the most out-there dance floor-destroyer of the bunch, this one’s got warehouse tremor-inducer written all over it, and is sure to subjugate up to the most unwilling party head it may cross paths with. Topping things off on a weirder, more off-piste kind of experimental note, ‘Empirical’ finds MSDMNR at his most daring and inspiringly venturesome as he serves up a wild spiral of encrypted synth semantics, randomised rhythmic stunts and echo-chamber micro-sonic observation by way of gourmet afters.

While we watched the current events unfold in the USA, we have been feeling pretty helpless, we wanted to speak sooner but we felt we wanted to take action rather than adding more words. We are sickened by the way individuals have lost their lives over the years at the hand of disgusting police brutality, most recently with George Floyd. But this all stems from systematic racism that generations have suffered. Some of us can’t really begin to know the true extent of how this has impacted millions of human beings over hundreds of years and while we know this may not amount to a huge donation... We believe that now is the time for change, we want to make a move towards this, even if it simply helps raise more awareness amongst our own circles.

Prodigal Son artists & friends have worked together over the past few days to make a compilation of which all proceeds will be donated to NAACP.org who are leading the fight for change in the United States, we know this is a global issue and will like to support everywhere but we have to focus on one movement at a time.
