BrandNewTrumpets returns to Diffrent with the 'You' EP — four sublime cuts that journey between her expansive style and club-geared drum workouts.
While previous efforts have seen BrandNewTrumpets weave narratives about other people and their struggles into her work, the ‘You’ EP tells the story of her own production evolution. The release finds the Croydon artist challenging herself with new techniques to push her artistry to new heights.

Opening on ‘This Is For You’, a gorgeous eight-minute love letter to her partner, the EP immediately showcases BrandNewTrumpets’ desire to indulge herself in making beautiful and deeply personal music.
‘Changed For You’ sees her turn towards the dancefloor — a reflection of her development as a DJ — delivering punchy, propulsive bass and tough drum work without losing any of the cinematic wonder she’s become known for.
‘To You’ continues down the club-ready route, but leans into the kind of cosmic rolling sound of labels like Good Looking Records and Soul:r.
And final track ‘Only You’ sees BrandNewTrumpets’ vocals — which are present throughout the EP — layered in unfathomable numbers to create a magnificently lush world for her spritely percussion to play in.

It’s another incredible effort that further solidifies BrandNewTrumpets’ epic signature sound, while showcasing just how far she’s come over the past five years.

R4NS0M made his long-awaited appearance on the Playground and brought a couple sets worth of tunes to share. I started off the night with a mix of liquid and bassier tunes for an hour before R4NS0M took over, even touching neuro for a bit. I made sure to highlight both tracks from Ainonow's new Exile EP. He played a full dnb set chock to the gills with new and forthcoming tunes he produced, along with some juicy dubs. Then he closed out the show with an homage to Episode 138, pushing the lower tempo with some slick tunes and funky vibe to close us out.

LM1 delivers a star turn here with A-side "Sargasso", as expansive and borderless as the sea from which it takes it's name. Razor-sharp breakbeats, sub bass and dreamy pads all add up to a mature and considered slice of cutting edge Sci-Fi plastic. Deep enough for the bedroom but more than capable of working on a dancefloor this tune is certain to open a few doors for this hotly-tipped scottish producer. Dissident's offering "Scarecrow" is as idiosyncratic as any other tunes by this most accomplished of Russian producers, building a furiously cerebral groove with little other than hats, clicks, drones, cavernously delayed chords befor utterly improbably unleashing some utterly raucous amens out of nowhere! Pigeonhole this, we DARE you! Rounding off the package is none other than Mr Sizef, who has had many an eye watching him since his previous work on Hospital's stellar "Future Sounds of Russia" collection. "Chocolate Evening, The Crimson Sea, Sweet Feeling, Only U" is as poetically expressive a collection of sounds as it's title would lead you to expect, it's deep pulsating halftime groove forms an undercarriage for all manner of crazily edited vocals and pads to swirl around, all combining to create a very special piece of music indeed.
