A meticulous dig into genre-beding dreamy nineties underground rarities - from breaks to rave to techno to clubbier house, it's all there, carefully picked by Gely (@gely-dj). A wanderlust-y mix some might say.

Gely (fka Soundbank), started djing at 2013 and became a resident Dj at Budapest’s best and hope-to-reopen-soon techno club, Lärm. He is co-running a record label called ‘This Is Our Time’ (@this-is-our-time)with his friend and longtime b2b partner Route 8 (@route8) and managing a club night promoter team called 'It's Okay To Dance'. Producing tracks/edits under as ‘This Is Our Soundsystem’.

"It's usually a painstaking and long process for me to record a new mix that I’m satisfied with and this was no different. Plus it's was the first time I've done it since the covid period and it turned out to be a somewhat wanderlust-y, dreamy mix that may reflecting a longing, but I leave it to the listener to decide what for."

This collection consists entirely of live recordings, gleaned from many hundreds of hours spent listening to live concert recordings of the band. A good deal of the songs are 2-track recordings taken from the Dick’s Picks series of releases, although some more hi-fi multi-track recordings, like the hallowed Europe ‘72 version of Morning Dew, are included. Blending deep Afrotech and Afrohouse rhythms, the track carries the energy of dancing barefoot in sacred earth, surrounded by the heartbeat of drums and voices of those who came before.

“This piece of music is a fragment of the story of one soul’s journey going weightless through the cosmos, lost in translation several years after the explosion of planet Earth”  Raphael’s tastes in sound spread extensively and boundlessly, continuously evolving for the joy, recreation and nourishment it gives. 

Originally heavily involved in the scene in Nantes, France, he has shifted noticeably from the club environment to more ambient spaces. The arresting sonic narrative pulls us unforgivingly into the depths of the subconscious - it is an inexorable descent into an underworld, a beguiling journey through forgotten technocratic wastelands and mutating apparitions. 

Psychosomatic polyphonies spill into the space, an amorphous field of outer-space frequencies. Vocal transmissions dictate the quiet historical drama throughout, marking the cinematic transitions that seep across this fluid backdrop.
