Avaline Ingels and The Living Creatures reimagine the Drum & Bass landscape with *Lyrics Not Included* — a record where rhythm takes the lead and emotion lingers just behind it. The beats drive fast, layered, and alive; the piano follows its own path, slower, reflective, almost stubbornly human.  

Rather than competing, these two worlds coexist — the breakbeats push forward, while Avaline’s piano drifts like memory, a current beneath the surface. Each note feels intentional, spacious, and deeply felt against the velocity of the drums.  

The result is music that thinks and breathes — where machinery moves the body and melody moves the soul.  
*Lyrics Not Included* isn’t about silence between words, but the feeling between tempos.

Battle Music or Whatever

This is a cover I originally made in July 2012 for the fifth edition of my own contest series at the Famitracker forums, called Demo Compo. This contest prompted users to submit covers that used the VRC6 sound expansion. To my surprise, I won! So if you download Famitracker, you'll find the source file for this amongst the demo tunes that come with the program.

I later submitted the NSF to the covers section of Famicompo Mini 9, and came second.

I spent a total of about 14 hours, concentrated in two days, making this cover. It seems to have been received fairly well within the community, receiving praise from Alberto José González himself!

This recording was made on a real Famicom with a real VRC6 (using a Japanese copy of Castlevania III for expansion sound) via the TNS-HFC3 device.
