The arena-conquering duo glide from gritty rave to skyscraping arpeggios on RA.1000, a mix many years in the making.

A new name undeniably entered the pantheon of major electronic live acts over the past decade: next to Faithless, The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers, now sit @feelmybicep.

The Belfast duo's music doesn't half reach for the stars: a melodic blend of ambient, breakbeat, trance and tech house, able to turn the biggest arenas into intimate affairs.

If anything, mainstream success, BRIT Award nominations and mammoth dance crossovers like "Glue" have only hardened Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar's resolve to keep innovating.

Their prized blog, running for nearly as long as the RA Podcast, regularly platforms upcoming artists. And you won't find many festival headliners releasing climate change-themed records with Indigenous artists, as they did recently on Takkuuk.

RA.1000 exists in that spirit. After many polite declines, and before a year off to usher in the next era, Bicep come through at the last: from dub techno and screwface breaks to São Paulo garage, before a tide of signature synths floods the zone. Stadium-sized intimacy at its finest.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of our first album, let us tell you about the infamous “Gauloises Bleues” tour and share some archives with you.
Let’s go back to 2005, a time when you could be young and actually get sponsored by a cigarette brand for a tour deep in Germany.
So—2005, first album, which meant promotion, and promotion inevitably meant touring… even though neither of us had ever set foot on a stage in our lives, aside from a few smoky gatherings among very close friends.
Joakim and Panico, seasoned veterans of the road, were our tour buddies as we hopped on a tour bus for a handful of dates: Heidelberg, Munich, Stuttgart. Diesel fumes, cigarettes, cold beers and schnitzels.
The plan looked simple enough on paper: open the night with a DJ set. Except the whole “machine live click’n’cut” idea left us feeling rather puzzled, even if we were dying to try it.
A DJ set, then — but one we desperately wanted to treat as a communion, a journey, an evangelisation. Besides, why dance? Could the club not become the fertile ground for a symbiosis between human and music, its primal, almost mystical reception? The very real fantasy of a concord among people of goodwill?
On paper, it sounded like a great pitch. In reality, it was a complete disaster — but one that at least helped us approach our future live formats with a clearer sense of crowd psychology and of that almost animal level at which audiences receive music in concert. Intellectual intention is one thing; the physical dimension matters just as much.
A special shout-out to the manager of the Zapata Club, who leapt over the barrier mid-set to scream at us in German: „Was zur Hölle macht ihr da, ihr zugedröhnten Degenerierten – SPIELT TECHNOOOO!!!“

To coincide with the launch of the documentary celebrating the history of the legendary Mo' Wax Records, we asked one of our favourite Montreal DJs, Phil Larochelle, to dive into the back catalogue and record a session consisting of his all-time favourites. 

The imprint founded in 1992 by James Lavelle was home to the some of the forward-thinking genre-defying beats. From DJ Krush to DJ Shadow, Motorbass to Unkle, the label was a melting-pot of Jazz, Hip Hop, Breaks, Trip Hop, Electronica and whatever else artists felt like putting on a slice of wax.

Here we go, 80 minutes strictly for the HEADZ!
