It was great to witness the outpouring of love and respect for Gil Scott-Heron over the weekend. 

A true innovator and inspiration to so many, I wanted something to play out over the weekend and came across this forgotten classic whilst digging through the collection.

Even though it has very little to do with Gil Scott-Herons usual production style being a house track (produced by Paul Waller) built on a selection of samples from classic records including Mr Fingers 'Can You Feel It', 808 State's "Pacific State' and vocal snippets from First Choice's "Let No Man Put Asunder', there's a rawness to the production that's totally fitting to Gil Scott-Herons apocalyptic tale.

Creative Source - You Cant Hide Love (The Apple Scruffs Edit)

This is one of many early  80's "Garage Band" tracks from Chicago.  While most of the U.S.  had Hip Hop - Treacherous 3 Funky 4 +One, Cassanova Rud and Cold Crush Bros., all we had was Grandmaster Flash. They played almost "0" hip hop, but groups like Magnum Force, Superior Movement, and these sounds from Marin Dumas, could be heard via cassette, odd hours on the radio, or at "sets", or basement parties. Actually wanted to do an edit of this song to make it a bit more danceable. It turned out to have way more potential then i expected. 
Now it's some kind of a remix i guess. 
Added sub-bass, kick, snare, hi-hat, ride and fx, played a very decent guitar-solo with looads of delay, and made some massive structural changes.
