The experimental piece is more laidback than what you might know him for, but still features ‘some pretty freaky stuff’, as he describes it. It’s safe to say that this guy knows music. We are excited to present the mix he recorded for us, which contains a stellar combination of soothing and slow-grooving tracks. It’s the perfect mix to cure a hangover.

This month, we're taking a musical journey with Rotterdam-based DJ @jeffsolo, who's recently released a Chicago house infused track together with Hollywood & Vine, along with a video by Cry Havoc. Chicago definitely does seem like the place where Jeff takes a lot of inspiration from, be it from the either the disco or house era. This guest mix is a seamless trip through time and genres. Expect a lot of melody, and the occasional killer bassline.

Ace & Tate Sounds - guest mix by Jeff Solo

This guest mix is by up-and-comers @beesmunt-soundsystem (pronounced as 'Basement Soundsystem'). The Amsterdam based duo have released four records over the last year, one of which featured none other than San Proper, who is also responsible for one of the first Ace & Tate guest mixes. 
These guys are steadily making a name for themselves – next to their productions they appear regularly on Red Light Radio, where they have their own show, and they've recently performed for Boiler Room in London, which they have described as "2016's most stressful 45 minutes."
This DJ duo shows their strength in selecting house tracks that come with an abundance of African influences, melody, synths, warmth and/or general good vibes. A great example of this is Chicco's 'I need some money', a slightly satirical track that features all of the above.
This mix was recorded live at the Golden Cock in Amsterdam.

Ace & Tate Sounds - guest mix by Beesmunt Soundsystem

We asked Dublin based @JimmyRouge to select his favourite summer tracks and the result was a lush two-hour long mix, which will make these early spring days feel like summer already. 

Jimmy is well-known for his DJ sets in the Dublin nightlife, but he's recently taken his musical career to new heights by founding his very own record label, Orange Tree Edits. The label has seen two EP releases so far, and both of them have already caused quite the buzz with support support from DJs like Hunee, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Session Victim and Peggy Gou.

Next month we're opening a store in Cologne, which just so happens to be the hometown of our guest DJ, Marcus Worgull (@marcusworgull). It's safe to say that Worgull's work is very diverse: it ranges from the deepest house-cuts on Berlin's famous Innervisions label, to synth-heavy ambient productions as 'Vermont' (Marcus Worgull + Motor City Drum Ensemble). Oh, and let's not forget his brilliant remixes for The XX and Fink.

This guest mix features a selection of beautiful, melancholic tracks, put together in a story telling way.

During this year's ADE, Ace & Tate Sounds broadcasted live on Red Light Radio with a dreamy line-up, and we've got the mixtapes to prove it. First up, Carista – the up and coming artist hailing from Utrecht, where nightlife is on the rise, with new exciting initiatives popping up like the club WAS.  In this recording, Carista shows us that she knows a whole lot about the origin of House music, switching effortlessly from one classic to another and serving us an incredible selection of warm, soulful tracks. This recording is from a very special evening where we celebrated Ace & Tate’s 5th birthday from the basement of Red Light Radio’s new store. A 5 hour listening session took place in which we asked 5 artists to select records for an hour each. The setting was extremely personal – guests sat cross-legged just a few feet away from the DJs and listened to the session through Red Light Radio’s fantastic Klipschorn speakers. What they got to experience was truly magical. 

Do sit back and enjoy these uniquely special trips into some weird and wonderful realms of music we’re not always given the chance to explore.

To kick things off, the Amsterdam-based Interstellar Funk takes us through a series of cuts that are hard to place – at times cosmic and wave sounding, there’s a distinct industrial feel to his set. We get to hear hypnotic minimal synth ventures, tribal drums, disembodied guitars and haunting vocals. It’s a listen that is at times tense, but totally enthralling.

With a monthly show on NTS and regular sets delivered straight to the dark dance floors of some of Amsterdam’s finest underground clubs like De School and Garage Noord, Vic Crezée has quite the list of credentials. We thought it was about time for him to pull together a mix for us.

This month we’ve got party starters Tokyo Fantasy taking the lead in our mix series. Cam and “Nervous” Fergus are the self-proclaimed music dork duo from London, whose diverse parties have hosted highly respected names like Tornado Wallace, Secretsundaze, Jamie Tiller, and previous guest mix contributor, Carista.

Whilst they have outgrown their reputation as “perpetual warm up DJ’s”, Cam and Fergus do know how to de-ice a crowd like no other. This is exactly what you’ll hear in this 1 hour 45 mins long mix, developing gradually from smooth-as-Sade tracks, to dubby instrumentals, into boogie, slow Italo, African voodoo, finishing off with some grade A disco. Absolute diggers delight, without any of the pretentiousness. As they say, break out the lambrini and enjoy.

Whilst moving from London to Manchester, and throwing their 4-year anniversary party, our friends, promoters and DJs, @high-hoops , still managed to kindly squeeze out this mix for us. And judging by how fantastic it is, they seem to really thrive under pressure. Strap in and get ready for a great, light-hearted selection, which includes some breakbeat, a bit of Middle Eastern delight and even some cumbia.

With summer in full swing, we’re coming at you with another guest mix, by Dutch boy wonder, Nathan Homan (@nathanhoman). We first crossed paths with Nathan when he played at the opening of our store in Groningen, where he is the youngest resident of club night, KopjeK (@kopjek). His influences are broad, thanks to growing up amongst music lovers, and he’s already making major waves in the scene, despite his tender years. This mix is best suited for listening while letting your mind wander, so put those earphones in and we’ll see you on the next astral plane.

First up is Sandor Dayala (@sandor-dayala). The youngster is originally from The Hague and is a recent newbie on the scene. Don’t let his youth fool you though: this guy is making big noise in the music world already. Everyone, get acquainted with Melbourne native, DJ and producer Bell Towers, real name Rohan Bell-Towers. Now based in Berlin (he made a record about his move), the NTS Dance Music Show host is known for his wonderfully cheesy, dreamy 80s pop sounds.

Get ready to get weird: we’re ringing in the new year with Daniel Baughman (@baughman), who first caught our eye at Dekmantel this summer. Alongside doing A&R at John Talabot's label, Hivern Discs, he also curates the line ups for Barcelona's audiophile listening bar Nica and is part of Magic Teapot Records. Phew, now you can tell why it took us so long to get a hold of him. 

As for the mix, expect the unexpected. Daniel’s known for his eclectic music choices, carving out his very own genre which defies definition. As the man himself says: best listened to without distractions — peace.

Named after a songbird (merel is Dutch for blackbird), it’s kinda fitting she found her way into music. The second half of her name — Rhizome in English — hints at her methodical approach to music, as she often takes her listeners on trippy, conceptual journeys.

Exploring the meeting point of sound, science and art, for this mix she’s given us something to dance to.
