Hey guys! This is a cover of my all-time favourite song. Never thought I would ever be able to learn how to play this song when I first started playing guitar but I managed to accomplish my goal! I tried to add a few parts of my own to try and make it different. I really hope you enjoy, and thanks for the support! :)

This is my cover of the Chaka Khan dancefloor classic from 1982. When I was a kid, I played gigs in pubs in Blackpool, and often my audience was mostly elderly ladies spending their pension money on bacardi! Quite often they'd tolerate my original songs and blues covers for only so long, and eventually a representative would be sent over to remonstrate with me. "Excuse me young man, please can you play something we can dance to?" So this is my emergency disco song.

Jon Gomm - Ain't Nobody

Eclectic rhythms, fast fingers and soulful melodies with influences from different parts of the world characterize Achyuth J as a musician. Hailing from Kochi, Kerala and trained in guitar from the age of 8, his breakthrough came in the island of Bali, Indonesia where he performed for over 2 years as a solo fingerstyle guitarist as well as with his band ‘Nasi Campur’, spreading big smiles and positive vibes.

Achyuth believes in music as a tool to communicate sensitivity, to bind people together and make people dream of a greener and better future. His first EP ‘Convert Guns to Guitars’ is an expression of this, and contains 5 songs ranging from fingerstyle, latin and jazz to rock, pop, Spanish and Indian influences.

He has spread his music to promote social causes at events including the One Billion Rising concert to end violence against women, CETA Galaxy to promote sustainability, the Paradigm Shift Project concert to re-green the island of Bali, TEDx Ubud and Earth Day Bali. He has also performed at large festivals including the BaliSpirit Festival and MAD Festival.

Achyuth has completed 8th Grade in Western Classical guitar from Trinity Colege of Music with Distinction at the age of 15.

Kevin Briggs and John Anthony (Karnatriix) have been his biggest musical mentors and inspiration. He also idolizes the greats of fingerstyle guitar – Andy Mckee, Jon Gomm, and Erik Mongrain.

A life changing holiday in 2012 and winning the 1st ‘Greenest Student on Earth Scholarship’ got him shifting to Bali, Indonesia, to finish his senior school years in the renowned Green School Bali.

With his unique blessing of excellence in the right and left brain, Achyuth is passionate about sensitive design and architecture too! – which has seen him accepted to two most prestigious colleges in the USA – the Berklee College of Music Boston and the South California Institute of Architecture, LA. 

For now, Achyuth plans to continue his musical journey in Boston next year in Berklee College of Music.
