An increasingly established voice in New York’s nightlife, Samuel Fish is an organizer and artist originally from Portland, Oregon whose interests are deeply intertwined with the underground. As a core mind behind Mizz Softee, the diversity of his tastes is reflected in the talent recruited for any events he’s involved in, ranging from classic techno and house, to emerging sounds from outer regions, and healthy doses of authentic New York after-hours grit. A digger par excellence, Sam’s selections change with his surroundings to slot in with his invitees or flow to their own wayward conclusions, often evading strict genre to revel in groove and atmosphere through deep house, techno, ultramodern breakbeats, wave, vintage tech house, early trance, and leftfield picks.

As Mizz Softee rises to ever greater renown, so does her ambition, recruiting legends like DJ Rolando, DJ Hyperactive, Sandrien, Mike Dearborn, Anthony Parasole, Marco Shuttle, Mystic Bill and many more. Sam’s sure handed guidance balances weighty names with the crème de la crème of US and international tastemakers and local luminaries with unquestionable credentials. Emphasizing continuity and content in both his sets and his curation, he seeks to return ethics to the dancefloor, both in the quality of the music and the atmosphere his endeavors embrace.

Nowadays Live and Direct returns after a long hiatus with a 5-hour recording from Carlos Souffront (@csouffront), recorded from 10 am - 3 pm at our Halloween Nonstop party on October 29, 2022. Carlos returns to Nowadays for another Nonstop set this weekend, playing from 3 pm to 6 pm Sunday afternoon.

A regular at Interdimensional Transmissions' No Way Back parties in Detroit and beyond, Carlos Souffront brings a brilliant sense of creative alchemy to the decks, combining years of experience and digging with a sensibility like no other. Abstract rhythms meld together into inexplicable chaos magic. Dark, shadowy selves emerge, ready to be explored with a sense of mischief and playfulness, carried through by an acid bassline or cheeky vocal.

For this extended Halloween set during the real witching hours, Carlos summoned all of the party gremlins, goblins, and ghouls to the Nowadays dancefloor for the ultimate seance.

Italian label-head, radio host and DJ Elena Colombi has been holding it down on platforms like NTS and stages like Dekmantel for close to up to a decade. Their ear for the out there crossings of experimental, industrial and techno sounds is truly next to none. Not only does this show their skills on how to blend these styles to accuracy world wide but reflects on the music they pick for their excellent Osàre! Editions imprint since 2019. Mr. Ho’s 宀 residency gave us yet an another glorious nights last summer. A sort of a natural born league of his own, we had the wonderful Knopha, Xiamen’s DJ extraordinaire and an important club music voice of China. We’re not just giving out the “voice” title easily, it’s more that Knopha really speaks in tongues when it comes to all the styles, genres, fantasies and snippets of reality he incorporate in his sets so this naturally resonated with many.

DJ Hockey: FRiends and Family Ep. 52

"Chicago native Justin Aulis Long discovered his fascination for uncanny music at an early age when his mother entrusted him with her record collection that spanned from UK punk to American dance. This  served as a gateway, stimulating his journey into the sonic vortex. As a child of Medusa’s on Sheffield, Long gained a higher level of musical education. His weekly pilgrimages to this venue’s all-ages hedonistic dance parties supplied a compelling musical concoction of acid house, UK bleep, industrial and new wave. Possessed by these unorthodox forms of music, Long purchased his first set of turntables and began to collect 12-inch singles from local record shops. Though his intentions were solely to pander to his musical appetite in the privacy of his bedroom, this acquisition proved to be the genesis of a voyage that continues to present him with new challenges that are met with an unforgiving dogmatic approach.

Long cut his teeth during the early 90’s at many of Chicagos Infamous DIY and underground warehouse raves. pulling selections from a variety of his musical influences and interests. Eventually graduating to take residencies at many of the cities established club venues and landing a residency at Smart Bar where he is currently the longest consecutive resident."
