In a dark kitchen in the middle of a sweaty night in Las Vegas, all 6’4” of Dan Reynolds is hunched over a laptop, slapping beats on the table and crooning lyrics into a tiny microphone. Before long, he and the other three members of indie rock band Imagine Dragons would be playing “It’s Time,” that same laptop-demo-turned-supersized-anthem, from the roof of a parking garage to a wave of thousands of screaming fans. This song title to the single from their 2012 debut KidInaKorner/Interscope release “Continued Silence EP” is an all too apt descriptor of the band’s hard-earned success—but it’s also emblematic of the deep-seated anxiety Reynolds and the rest of the band experienced leaving behind any realistic expectation of a normal job to do the thing they love most.

A third-generation Las Vegas native, Reynolds is no stranger to the adage “the house always wins,” choosing to pave his musical career with a near obsessive work ethic and hundreds of unused demos rather than roll the dice with the first songs that sprung from his mouth. It’s no surprise, then, that he was drawn to guitarist Wayne Sermon, another founding member of Imagine Dragons. Having practically grown up in a recording studio and graduated Berklee College of Music, Wayne had been practicing his guitar through meals and other socially inappropriate situations as long as he could remember; he challenged Dan in a way that was both uncomfortable and exactly what they both needed. When they began writing songs together and recognized something special was happening, Wayne called up his Berklee friend Ben McKee, who promptly dropped out of school with only a few credits left, moving across the country to play bass for the band. This sort of reckless/genius behavior is typical for Ben, who has an uncanny penchant for spicy food and a suitcase full of unbelievable road stories. More recently, the band was joined by drummer Daniel Platzman, another Bostonian schoolmate who seems way too nice to be playing rock and roll until you actually see him in action.

Several tours and three self-released EPs later, Imagine Dragons had made a serious name for itself, particularly in the west coast circuit. Although their songs vary from nearly whimsical and light to brooding and powerful, listeners are drawn to the inherent honesty in the music. The only rule of thumb for the band, it seems, is to write from a true place; the result is songs that literally run the spectrum of human emotion. Attend a concert, and it becomes clear that the live performance of deeply personal songs has a real effect on people. And the band itself is not immune, as demonstrated when Dan literally passed out into the drum set during a finale song, sending cymbals and drum stands crashing while the rest of the band played on until the close.

Great songwriting is bound to be noticed eventually. As proof that the harder you work, the luckier you get, one of those people who noticed was Grammy winning producer Alex da Kid (Eminem, Rihanna). Alex and Dan began collaborating on projects, and soon the band had developed a relationship with Alex and his team. The alchemy resulting from Alex’s hip hop sensibilities and Imagine Dragons’ anthemic rock is nothing short of explosive. The byproduct of this creative collision is “Continued Silence,” a six song in-your-face sonic grenade that breaks musical boundaries and yet is strangely relatable by its improbably diverse audience.

Despite it all, on any given day when they aren’t on the road playing shows, you can still find Imagine Dragons huddled away in a rehearsal room somewhere, banging out song after song in search of the next perfect track. Like most things in Vegas, the band is angled at going big or going bust. For the sake of those who love great music, we hope it’s the former.

Spanish: AcidProyect es una banda ourensana que nace oficialmente el 29 de diciembre de 2007 cuando Gaby (batería), Jaime (bajo), Brais e Iván (guitarras) y Murias (voz) ofrecen su primer concierto en el que la banda ya muestra las que serán sus señas de identidad: un directo potente y agresivo interpretando mayoritariamente temas propios y cuyo estilo está en el lugar en el que confluyen Hard-Rock, Metal, Grunge, Hard Core e incluso Blues y Psicodelia progresiva.
Tras dedicar 2008 y 2009 a tocar por una increíble cantidad de festivales por toda la geografía gallega, presentan a inicios de 2010 su primera Demo compuesta de cinco canciones y una hidden track. De una de esas canciones extraen su primer videoclip, rodado por Producciones Trípode, concretamente de “I can´t keep the faith in the world” la cual obtiene un moderado éxito regional. Es en ese 2010 cuando la banda comienza a consagrarse, logrando vencer en dos concursos de bandas a los que se presenta: Concurso de bandas Klandestino y Festival Magus. Gracias a éste último AcidProyect graba un tema titulado “Ouija” el cual se convierte automáticamente en uno de los favoritos de seguidores y banda. Su trayectoria en 2010 le vale para ser considerados la banda revelación por la crítica especializada regional.
El año 2011 es el año en que AcidProyect comienza a compartir escenario con formaciones más punteras tanto a nivel estatal como internacional ya que forma parte del DerrameRock donde sus miembros tuvieron la oportunidad de intercambiar risas y camaradería con, entre otros, Molotov, Los Coronas, Def Con Dos,… además de ofrecer una actuación de “metal rock que calentó todavía más el ambiente” como rezaba una crónica del evento. También formaron parte de la primera edición del reconocido festival Live for Madness Metal Fest compartiendo tablas con bandas nacionales relevantes como Dredd, Vivid Remorse y Upcomming of Devastation. Con Porretas y Reincidentes comparten escenario en el festival Raigamazzo, inolvidable festival en Terras de Celanova y con Psyquence, Yidorah y Prap´s en el Break your neck Fest en su ciudad natal. La crítica ensalza cada vez más el directo de los “ácidos”, pero el 29 de diciembre, cuando la banda actúa en un concierto que además coincide con su cuarto aniversario, Jaime, bajista, anuncia su adiós por motivos personales. Le sustituirá un reputado músico y amigo de la banda. David Cortiñas ex miembro, de entre otros combos, de The Daltons y Kernell Panic.
2012 lo dedican a preparar la grabación del que será su primer larga duración, “Where´s your God now?”, donde la formación combina sus señas de identidad musicales con la temática anticlerical, anticapitalista y criticando la alienación hacia la que la raza humana se encamina en el oscuro siglo XXI. Comienzan a trabajar en los estudios Nocturnal Studios en Octubre. Aún así la banda tiene tiempo de participar en diversos conciertos como la inauguración de la sala Berlín y de compartir escenario con, por ejemplo, Jorge Salán o José Rubio´s Nova Era.
Ya en 2013 la banda finiquita la grabación de “Where´s your God now?” y trabaja activamente hombro con hombro en su producción con José Rubio, productor e ingeniero de Nocturnal Studios. AcidProyect prevé sacar a la luz su primer disco entre finales de 2013 e inicios del 2014, aunque también sacarán tiempo para algunas Live performances como con la banda viguesa Aphonnic. Así pues, AcidProyect encara el último trimestre de 2013 con las mismas fuerzas y ganas que los caracterizan desde sus inicios. ¡Salud ácida!

English: AcidProyect is a band officially born on December 29, 2007 in Ourense (Galicia, Spain) when Gaby (drums ), Jaime (bass), Iván and Brais (guitars) and Murias (vocals ) offer its first concert in which (will be) its identity: a strong and aggresive live performance playing mostly new songs and whose style is located where Hard -Rock, Metal, Grunge, Hard Core and even progressive Blues and Psychedelia converges.
Having spent 2008 and 2009 playing for an incredible amount of festivals all over Galicia, presented in early 2010 their first demo consisting of five songs and a hidden track. In one of those songs draw their first music video filmed by Producciones Tripode, specifically "I can´t keep the faith in the world" which gets a moderate regional success. It is in that 2010 when the band begins to consecrate, achieving victory in two competitions of bands which presents: Band Competition Klandestino and Magus Festival. Thanks to the latter AcidProyect record a track called "Ouija" which automatically becomes a favorite song of fans and band. His career in 2010 makes the band considered “the revelation band” by the regional and specialized critics.
The year 2011 is the year when AcidProyect becomes sharing stages being part of DerrameRock where members had the opportunity to share laughter and camaraderie with, among others, Molotov, The Coronas, Def Con Dos, ... and offer a performance of "metal rock wich got the ambience even hotter" as a chronicle of the event read. Also part of the first edition of the renowned festival Live for Madnes Metal Fest sharing tables with relevant national bands as Dredd, Vivid Remorse and Upcomming of Devastation. Share the stage at the festival Raigamazzo with national bands as Reincidentes and Porretas, unforgettable festival in Terras de Celanova. With Psyquence, Yidorah and Prap 's in Break your Neck Fest in his hometown. The critic praises increasingly the “Acids” performance, but on 29 December, when the band performed in a concert that also coincides with the fourth anniversary, Jaime, bassist, announces his farewell for personal reasons. Jaime was replaced by a renowned musician and friend of the band David Cortinas, former member, among other combos, The Daltons and Kernell Panic .
2012 is spent preparing to record what will be their first album, "Where's your God now ?", Where the band combines its musical identity with themes like the anticlerical, anti-capitalist and criticizing the alienation toward the human race is heading in this dark century XXI.
They start working on Nocturnal Studios in October. Yet the band has time to participate in different concerts as the opening of Sala Berlin sharing the stage with, for example, Jorge Salán or Jose Rubio's Nova Era. Already in 2013 the band finished the recording of "Where's your God now ?" and is actively working shoulder to shoulder in its production with José Rubio, producer and engineer of Nocturnal Studios. AcidProyect expected exposing her first album in late 2013 and early 2014, but also get their time for some live performances with the band, amongo others, Aphonnic (Vigo). So AcidProyect faces the last quarter of 2013 with the same strength and desire that characterized since its beginnings.
