One of the most beautifully done boss themes I've ever heard. The melody and sadness in this song matches the intense atmosphere to a tee.

Random Encounter/As inspired by Mother.

This is the Overworld Theme featured in Chapter 1 of Y2K. It's the most traditional of the arrangements, and draws influence from Dvorak and Morricone. Perhaps some Shostakovich too.. 
The video game influence is the “Wind Scene” from Chrono Trigger. The opening plucked strings are meant to be a direct reference.
