When Techno and Hardcore gained traction in the 90s, there was the tendency for the sound to get more heavy and dirty on the one side, and more frantic and speedy on the other side; tracks at 160 BPM, 180 BPM, soon at over 200+ BPM came popping out; until eventually genres such as Terror and Speedcore arose and you had tracks clocking at 800 bpm in 1998. And, after the millenium, genres such as Splittercore and Extratone became popular that took the speed to even more insane levels.

But after a while, an evolution towards the opposite direction took place, too; starting in genres such as Industrial Hardcore and Doomcore, some artists began to produce slower and slower tracks; this soon gave birth to the phenomenon known as "Slowcore". Tracks below 100 BPM, or 80 BPM, or 60 BPM, or even at 1 bpm (and slower?). Slowcore even has its own sub styles by now, such as Funeral Doomcore for very slow tracks, or Hadal Doomcore for even much, much slower tracks (think 1-16 BPM).

When exactly a track does enter the "Slowcore" realm is open to dispute. For this compilation we used the definiton: 125 BPM or slower (with one exception!).

So we called out for producers to turn in their Slowcore tracks for this compilation, and the response was awesome. We have something from all realms of slower Hardcore here, 120 BPM tracks, 60 BPM, 4 BPM... Industrial inspired sounds, Doomed sounds, slow Dancefloor stompers, Dark Ambient influences, Death Metal, odd experiments... everything you can wish for.

And, while listening to the tracks, we almost got the impression that there was a historic error in the development of Hardcore Techno: these slow tracks sound so natural and kicking, the slow drums underline the dark moods and atmospheres so perfect, maybe Hardcore had always been ment to be produced at half the speed, or even much less!

So... get a glimpse of the Slowcore movement, and check this compilation - if you dare!

Als Chloroplast bezeichnet man Zellen die Photosynthese betreiben. Eisn wesentlicher Bestandteil ist das Chlorophyll. Von ihnen haben die Pflanze ihre grüne Farbe.
Dieser Song ist dem Verein für Elektronische Musik gewidmet, der schallwende e.V. Im diesen Jahr habe ich die Eher auf der jährlich erscheinen schallplatte vertreten zu sein. Die Schallplatte 28 ist gerade erschienen und auf ihr ist das Stück Nr. 7, mit dem Namen Chlrophyl B, welches aus meiner Feder stammt, enthalten. Ich gratuliere hiermit auch allen anderen Teilnehmern der Scene für die ausserordentlich gelungenen CD. Als Dankeschön für die Teilnahme gibt es diesen Track "Chloroplast".

Chloroplasts are cells that perform photosynthesis. Chlorophyll is an essential component of these cells. They give plants their green colour.
This song is dedicated to the Association for Electronic Music, schallwende e.V. This year, I have the honour of being featured on their annual record release. Este álbum aniversario reúne únicamente artistas sudamericanos que trabajan el techno industrial y el hard techno. El sonido es áspero, denso, físico: como la montaña, como el metal frío al amanecer, como el calor que quema al mediodía.

La imagen es un caballo.
No el caballo heroico ni domesticado para la postal, sino uno viejo, cansado, sabio. Hay experiencia, lealtad y un dolor que no pide lástima. Es el dolor de una historia marcada por el despojo, por lo que fue arrancado una y otra vez, pero también por la obstinación de seguir adelante.

It’s a loaded word, used to label, exclude, reduce.
Here, it is given back with noise, with weight, with a body.

This anniversary album brings together only South American artists working with industrial techno and hard techno. The sound is harsh, dense, physical: like the mountains, like cold metal at dawn, like the heat that burns at midday.

The image is a horse.
Not a heroic horse, not one tamed for a postcard, but an old, tired, wise one. There is experience, loyalty, and a pain that asks for no pity. It’s the pain of a history marked by dispossession, by what was taken away again and again, but also by the stubborn will to keep moving forward.

This album exists because we are still here.

Three years of Drox Trax do not celebrate success: they celebrate continuity.

Is:end aka aM.IT started his approach to electronic sound in late '90s when he was kid, attracted from techno and
then harder music played in Italians clubs.
In 1999 started producing some beats for fun
and performing live at some local parties.
Since then his goal was making something
original and trying to leave his mark
on underground electronic music.

Supported by artists from various scenes that play his tunes on clubs, festivals, podcasts and radio shows.

He won the Screw World Dj contest 2008,
classified 3rd on Noisj Remix contest 2013,
as well was part of the original GabberFM crew
with his resident radioshow from 2012 to 2018.

Actually he released his stuff
with different aliases and styles,
run SM Audio Labs from 2013,
Dark Impact Records from 2016,
and the rising Amsys Records
which he founded on 2024,
with hundreds of tunes mastered and
releases managed for dozens of
well known artists and labels.

Doomcore Records was started in December 2012 by artist and author Sönke Moehl aka Low Entropy in Hamburg, Germany. The idea behind the label was to have an outlet for sounds in the style of Doomcore, Darkcore, and more sombre and twisted Techno in general. But the label also always welcomed music that broke the Doomcore mold and brought in new and fresh ideas from such genres as EBM, Dark Wave, Video Game Music or even Black Metal - or just Avantgarde and sonic experimentalism in general.

In the years that Doomcore Records existed so far, especially three influences to the Doomcore sound proved to be fruitful:
That of music that has been traditionally called "Industrial" and that got closer to Doomcore in recent times; and genres that are associated with it, such as Dark Ambient.
That of Gabber music, especially "Oldschool" Gabber of the 90s.
And that of harder and darker forms of Techno, that grew in popularity in the last years.
So you're likely to find a sombre Dark Ambient track, a melancholic 200 BPM Hardcore affair, or even a frantic Industrial Black Metal song in between the more traditional Doomcore sounds on this label.

Doomcore Records always had the strict policy to just look at "the music" when choosing releases, so you'll find both newcomers and yet unknown talents together with big names and veterans of Hardcore and Doomcore on this label.
Some of the bigger artists that have released on Doomcore Records are AnTraxid, The Darkcreator, Taciturne and Nkisi - who had her debut release on DCR!

The label had plenty of output and hit it's 150th release in 2021 and is still going strong.
2021 also saw the release of the first Doomcore Records vinyl, "Doomland", a collaboration with Teknoland Production.
Doomcore Records so far was mentioned in magazines such as The Wire, Pitchfork, Fact Magazine, Crack Magazine, and plenty, plenty of others.
The Doomcore Records team consists of Low Entropy who selects the tracks and releases for the label, and Mattia Travaglini who creates the artworks for the releases which also set the mood for the sounds.

So this is the little description for that Doomcore centered label.
