This appealing, metaphorical trip is echoed in a second Subwise release from the one-man project called Acrylic Paint (or, on occasion, "Acr†Pnt"). The label introduces his tracks thus: "This isn't just music. It's a journey. It's a journey to places you've already visited - and to those you dream of seeing. It's a reflection of living nature - together with all its beautiful landscapes." Pleasure is made synonymous with a move away from home. The further, the better.
With a little work, it can be discovered that Acrylic Paint is actually Yaroslav Tochilin, who lives on the very outskirts of Moscow - in the town of Zelenograd. Here the city's asphalt comes to an end and the woods begin. Interestingly enough, the history of Zelenograd is grounded in twentieth-century electronics and the very tools that allow for communication far beyond the physical constraints of audible speech. We're working hard to get away from typical streets and lives.
Yaroslav Tochilin received a classical education on the piano and - more recently - has performed in a rap ensemble, although time constraints have led him to focus exclusively on instrumental electronica. He seems intent on long-term effort within that narrower field, since one of his chosen aphorisms on a networking account reads (in English): "The long haul will show who's who... as the bookies say." Tochilin then offers a fine example of that long-term endurance, in the name of surrendering to something superior. It comes in the form of a true story, concerning an elderly lady who was seen at a nearby railway station, selling her small and naive, handmade paintings of flowers.
