Coti K. brings 5 tracks of Balearic-ambient sweetness to Dark Entries. Italian-Greek musician Costantino Luca Rolando Kiriakos has been a pioneering force in the Athens electronic music scene since the mid-80’s, wearing hats as diverse as composer, sound engineer, and installation artist. His countless projects and collaborators include Tuxedomoon, Stereo Nova, In Trance 95, and RAW (previously reissued by Dark Entries). 1994’s Theros, Kiriakos’s first release as Coti K., was comprised of three tracks of breezy downtempo beats, brimming with smooth breaks, boomy 808’s, and cosmically chill pads & pianos. In tune with the global vibes of the emerging ambient electronica movement, Coti K. brings a dose of his Hellenic heritage with tracks titles like “Argonauts” and “Theros.” The title track includes spoken word contributions from Konstantinos Bhta of Stereo Nova and is built off of a drum loop from Greek goth outfit Flowers of Romance. The sauntering “Blue” features vocals by Christina Moraki which were captured on a portable tape recorder, while the instrumental “Argonauts” is bolstered by cello from Nikos Veliotis. This reissue also includes two tracks from Coti’s 1997 debut LP - “Shoal” and “Notte Estiva” - which have never before appeared on vinyl, and show Coti experimenting with ambient and IDM styles. The cover art for Theros is a photo of the ocean by Giannis Papaioannou of RAW featuring early digital processing done on a Macintosh LC. Coti’s Theros is a timely slice of 90’s nostalgia with a uniquely Mediterranean twist.

CHBB was a project by Beate Bartel and Chris Haas that developed from their collaboration in 1981, while working on the self-titled album 'Liaisons Dangereuses‘. They released their music only on four limited cassettes.

Solpara’s debut album, Melancholy Sabotage, marks his return to Other People. While it was recorded over Covid lockdowns, Jaar had been talking about wanting to back a Solpara full-length since he put out Swing. The album came to life while Solpara was living alone in a Brooklyn loft, collecting unemployment checks and viewing ample free time as the artist residency he’d dreamed of; he’d previously been forced to make music in odd windows between numerous jobs and the unmerciful pace of city life. Free from obligations, he would wake up early to take Arabic lessons, read Tracey Thorn’s autobiography, and skateboard the deserted streets, then come home and design sounds until he had a track that felt like it needed to be released. While this easy going lifestyle was peaceful in many ways, Solpara found more complex inspiration in the emotion that stemmed from participation in Black Lives Matter protests and the 2020 Beirut Port explosion which rocked all of his extended family members in Lebanon.

Melancholy Sabotage explores the theme of sabotaging melancholy. Echoing sounds from the post-punk, trip-hop, and ambient genres, it is about sabotaging the cycle of melancholy and looking at this process without ignoring the sources that put it into motion. It may be compared to a rattling breaking free from retention, reaching states of dreamy euphoria and transcendence while simultaneously acknowledging the sources of retention, viewed from above. “The melancholy is going and going. It’s both beautiful and painful and you can get engulfed by it, but you can sabotage it,” he muses on the album’s title.

As part of the “on sight: bring back home” project, Xpone presented a series of online live broadcasts, alongside u.care, radiosygma & Radio Fantasia. All the funds that were raised in July were sent towards Save Ukraine, the only public organisation in Ukraine that regularly organises and successfully conducts rescue missions to return Ukrainian children abducted by Russian authorities.

" “on sight: bring back home” aims to highlight one of the many consequences of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine: the illegal forced displacement of Ukrainian children by Russian authorities. The goal is to raise money for a Ukrainian organization, Save Ukraine. One of their main projects, “Save Abducted Children,” focuses on finding, identifying, and returning Ukrainian children who were taken by Russia from occupied territories.

According to Save Ukraine’s research, more than 19,546 abducted Ukrainian children have been identified. The exact number of children taken from Ukraine to Russia during the war is unknown.

February 24, 2022, Russia has illegally transferred or deported at least 19,546 unaccompanied Ukrainian children and adolescents from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation. This is the official figure that appears on the Ukrainian government portal ChildrenOfWar.gov.ua. However, these government statistics include only those children whose transfer was officially reported to the Ukrainian central government by Ukrainian relatives, witnesses, or communities. The real number of affected children is probably much higher. "

FHUO's sophomore EP moves from a quartet format to a split EP between the bossman and the Paris-based Parviz, who makes his vinyl debut on the release. The record starts off with Folamour's "Very First Touch". A live clap and crowd sample opens the doors for a hazy build of  pads and jazz licks to come through. Parviz then makes his appearance via "100 Crown Bills" a more up-tempo house track that places groovy piano and guitar riffs and a mean flute over a bouncy bass and drum kit. On the B-Side, Parviz' "L'Estaque" lays some buttery jazz-funk loops down over another dancefloor-oriented beat. Globe trotting crate digger Daniel T, exploded on to the scene with a string of releases after his amazing debut Tetrachromat on Young Adults a couple of years back. Daniel has been growing some serious gems in his laboratory. Two gems that have come to maturity and have been plucked for the Fahrenheit/Celsius EP on Cosmic Pint Glass records.Daniel has crafted something special in these two cuts. Beautiful, bouncy and positive tracks that work as well on the dance floor as in the soundtrack to a road trip. After hearing them, CPG called in their top men Lauer and Jack Pattern for remix duties.
