Beige is the true color of melancholy is a multi-channel installation presented on Re.Sound a two day event in Huddersfield, UK on May 2018. The piece points out to the importance of the culinary culture in the establishment of immigrant cultures in Northern England over the past two centuries. The piece was produced with sounds recorded in the kitchen of Thai traditional cook Lag in Huddersfield, interviews made to second generation immigrants, and archive material that presents the role of cooking in the discrimination suffered by some immigrants that moved to West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester in the 1950s and 60s.

Thanksgiving est cette fête familiale célébrée le 4ème jeudi du mois de novembre aux Etats-Unis. Lors de cette célébration, on retrouve sur la table dinde farcie, pumpkin pie, maïs, écrasé de pommes de terres, canneberges… autant de mets et d’ingrédients qui trouvent leurs racines dans les cultures amérindiennes. Mais, connaît-on vraiment l’histoire de Thanksgiving? Si dans l’imaginaire collectif, cette fête renvoie à un moment chaleureux, familial, ses origines se trouvent dans le passé colonial des Etats-Unis.

En première partie d’émission, Emilie s’entretient avec Sean Sherman, chef d’origine amérindienne qui depuis trente ans travaille à la préservation du patrimoine culinaire des peuples indigènes. 

En deuxième partie, Emilie discute avec Hélène Harter, professeure d’histoire de l’Amérique du Nord à l’université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Elle revient avec elle sur l’histoire de Thanksgiving, la place de cette célébration dans l’imaginaire états-unien et ce à quoi cet événement renvoie dans l’histoire des amérindiens.

British comedian Adam Buxton talks with interesting people. The rambly conversations are sometimes funny, sometimes more serious with funny bits. Adam records the intros and outros for most episodes while walking with his dog friend Rosie in the East Anglian countryside where he lives with his wife and three children. 

Adam has appeared in films such as ‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Stardust’ and ‘Son Of Rambow’ as well as a variety of TV shows in the UK. Since 2007 he has hosted ‘BUG’, a live show that combines music videos and comedy that became a TV series on Sky Atlantic in 2012. From time to time he also does live shows featuring just his own material. Along with lifelong friend Joe Cornish he also is one half of award winning TV, radio and podcast duo Adam & Joe who have worked together since 1995.
