his week Harry is joined by another man from Celtic's recent history, but this time it is one of the more controversial figures - former general manager Jock Brown.

 

At the club for just for 17 months, his tenure coincided with the final push of the failed Murray regime to achieve ten in a row and consequently this period also saw the hight of the media campaign to unsettle Celtic.  Many would argue Fergus assisted that campaign by dismissing Tommy Burns and then appointing Brown along with "the worst thing to hit Japan since Hiroshima" in a very different structure to anything else in British football.

Dans toute pensée critique du numérique, la question du visage se pose de manière centrale. Dans un monde de reconnaissance faciale, le visage est numérisé et donc « réifié » pour permettre divers modes d’identification qui font peser le risque d’une surveillance généralisée. 
Associées à des caméras de surveillance, les bases de données qui permettent à l’intelligence artificielle de procéder à l’authentification et à l’identification des personnes posent de très sérieux problèmes de libertés publiques. La notion de « smart city » est souvent confondue avec celle de « safe city », avec une privatisation préoccupante de fonctions régaliennes à commencer par celle de la police. Les usages commerciaux de la reconnaissance faciale (déverrouillage d’appareils électro-ménagers, paiement sur mobile, usages marketing…) produisent une accoutumance aux technologies intrusives, alors que ces questions mériteraient un débat démocratique beaucoup plus large. 
Or le visage a une signification transcendante : « la manière dont se présente l’autre (…), nous l’appelons visage » (Emmanuel Lévinas). Il est un « au-delà » de l’être, une expression de l’altérité radicale mais aussi de notre condition temporelle et de notre expérience vécue. Pour valoriser la part sensible des visages en dehors de la société des écrans, l’art et la littérature ont un rôle-clé. Il s’agit de ne pas subir l’ « empire du signal » (Pierre-Antoine Chardel) et de retrouver un « face à face » irremplaçable. Le visage, c’est « ce qui déborde » et qui n’est ni codifiable ni catégorisable, ni numérisable.

About Paul Craig Roberts
Paul Craig Roberts has had careers in scholarship and academia, journalism, public service, and business. He is chairman of The Institute for Political Economy.

Dr. Roberts has held numerous academic appointments including the William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy in the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He has contributed chapters to numerous books and has published many articles in journals of scholarship. He has testified before committees of Congress on 30 occasions.

Dr. Roberts was associate editor and columnist for The Wall Street Journal and columnist for Business Week and the Scripps Howard News Service. He was a nationally syndicated columnist for Creators Syndicate in Los Angeles. In 1992 he received the Warren Brookes Award for Excellence in Journalism. In 1993 the Forbes Media Guide ranked him as one of the top seven journalists in the United States.

President Reagan appointed Dr. Roberts Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and he was confirmed in office by the U.S. Senate. From 1975 to 1978, Dr. Roberts served on the congressional staff where he drafted the Kemp-Roth bill and played a leading role in developing bipartisan support for a supply-side economic policy. After leaving the Treasury, he served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Dr. Roberts was awarded the Treasury Department’s Meritorious Service Award for “his outstanding contributions to the formulation of United States economic policy.”

In 1987 the French government recognized him as “the artisan of a renewal in economic science and policy after half a century of state interventionism” and inducted him into the Legion of Honor.

He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.

Parlons Péloches #77 - Le film de voyage dans le temps

British comedian Adam Buxton talks with interesting people. The rambly conversations are sometimes funny, sometimes more serious with funny bits. Adam records the intros and outros for most episodes while walking with his dog friend Rosie in the East Anglian countryside where he lives with his wife and three children. 

Adam has appeared in films such as ‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Stardust’ and ‘Son Of Rambow’ as well as a variety of TV shows in the UK. Since 2007 he has hosted ‘BUG’, a live show that combines music videos and comedy that became a TV series on Sky Atlantic in 2012. From time to time he also does live shows featuring just his own material. Along with lifelong friend Joe Cornish he also is one half of award winning TV, radio and podcast duo Adam & Joe who have worked together since 1995.
