Markus Homm delivers a driving mix of Bäcksvart & Simon Kiisks Old Souls. Markus has a reputation for delivering heavy hitting and rolling tech-house with an emotional twist and this is no exception. Perfectly executed and very contemporary, this is one for the specialist dance floors and will surely blow up from Tokyo to Ibiza.  Proper indeed. The label is Seaweed records, a sure shot in the genre and stamp of quality.

When DJ and producer Markus Homm steps behind the decks he has the unmistakable confidence of someone who knows exactly how to galvanise the dancefloor. His crisp, propulsive grooves have one clear mission: to get people to move their bodies.
	Markus makes this look easy, in part, because he has probably spent more waking hours on the dancefloor than anywhere else. Born in Romania and raised in Germany, Markus began ballroom dancing at age 12 and went on to become a world-class professional dancer. 
	His passion for electronic music blossomed as a teenager in the mid-90s. "House music was in the charts, on the radio and TV," he recalls. "One of my first nights out to my local club I saw Ultra Naté perform 'Free'. I got into that sound, lots of vocals, grooves, very happy positive music."
	As a teenager in the analogue age, Markus would go to the club on Thursday night then to the record shop on Friday to find out what the DJ played. "I would spend an hour choosing one record," he recalls. "It was always about the music." He bought one turntable, to listen to vinyl; then another, so he could DJ. Now, he plays all over the world, from Berlin and Tokyo, to the USA, Thailand and Australia. 
	Music was an escape from the rigours of training seven days a week, but Markus approached it with the same dedication. "Discipline within the dancing world helped me in the music world," he says. "Instead of partying I would get up on Monday and go to the studio. Dancing at a high level you analyse music and rhythms to find a way your body can show that. In the studio you do the same thing."
	There was never a "master plan", just passion and the organic evolution of his dancefloor grooves. Since his first official release in 2008, Markus has maintained a steady release schedule on  labels including Highgrade, Dynamic, 8bit, Poker Flat, Bondage Music, Saved Records, Bedrock and Still Hot. 
	His constant mingling of styles and histories creates a unique and exciting sound. Markus's DJ sets bear the traces of his musical evolution, from the uplifting vibes of classic house to the crisp precision of underground techno. "My life is about dancing, grooves, and music," he says. "Great music should get you in the mood, without you even realising it. That's what I want to do."

Tibi Dabo is the latest project from Barcelona born DJ and producer Max Guardans. Following on from last year’s La Dorada on Rebellion, he brings his enigmatic sonic exploration to Crosstown this May.

The EP opens up with the gentle yet thudding bass of Her Moon. The track is ten minutes of pure euphoria. Mesmerising cosmic synths travel towards the first breakdown where the track enters a darker phase before they weave their way back in as a 90s inspired piano topline joins proceedings. It’s All Behind takes the EP on a deeper trip with an emotive, soulful, vocal and shimmering melodies. Closing the EP, Nowhere Beach deploys a rapid beat with industrial hints and a rolling bassline, whilst keeping the cosmic feel of its predecessors. A warm synthline uplifts in the breakdown.

The alias of Max Guardans, Tibi Dabo is also the name of a mountain that overlooks Guardans’ hometown of Barcelona. Under this alias the young DJ and producer seeks to explore and experiment with a wide and varied sonic soundscape. His first EP, 2017’s Ende, was signed to Sasha’s highly acclaimed label, Last Night On Earth. Last year’s offering La Dorada was picked up by Damian Lazarus who signed it to his Rebellion imprint, with both EPs showcasing Guardans’ ability to create evocative music that shows a musical maturity beyond his years.

Established house talent Harry Romero makes a standout debut on Rebellion with the ​Afro Horn​ EP, an impressive two track release made specifically for the label.

“I​ t’s always a great experience when you set your sights on a certain sound and outcome when you’re in the studio. ‘Afro Horn’ and ‘R.W.P.’ were created for Damian Lazarus. I’m glad he saw the vision and signed them to his Rebellion imprint as no other label could have done them justice! ‘Afro Horn’ is a straight up deep tribal experience framed around an African flute solo. I wanted to create a sort of beauty and the beast track with this.‘RWP’ is a bit more musically sophisticated with its moving keyboard parts and a real spaced out arrangement which gives it so much room to breath.”​ ​Harry Romero​.

Afro Horn​ starts proceedings in a tribal fashion. A well-rounded kick merges with resonant percussion, that takes the form of a rattlesnake’s tail, providing the track with an enigmatic, Saharan-like quality. ​R.W.P​ rounds off the release. Keyboard chimes fuse with a gentle up-and-down bassline, as ethereal chords are layered underneath to form an emotive dance-floor number.

A regular on the electronic music scene, ​Harry Romero​’s talent for adapting styles shows no signs of slowing down. Traversing the various incarnations of house music with ease, the US native has produced multiple EPs for Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings as well as Yousef’s Circus Recordings; whilst his tougher, gritty productions have found a home on Tronic Music in the past. With an upcoming Essential Mix, Harry Romero is really beginning to cement his reputation as an esteemed and respected artist in the electronic music sphere.

The opening release of this year for Aletheia Recordings is by the UK producer Talal together with Frequenza labelhead Nihil Young.
'Touch' is the sensitive track featuring the graceful vocals from Amy Wawn, which is interpreted in different visions, whereas all of them are worth to be spoken about.
The powerful and floor-oriented original mix is captured in the diverse remixes, which are simultaneously easy to dance and dream to.
Ewan Rill is well-known for progressive house lovers with dozens of quality records released via Sudbeat, Balance Music and The Soundgarten, so his remix embraces the best of his style: progressive, moving and never-ending groove around the original Amy's vocals.
Remix from Yacine Dessouki & NDRK is completing the package, this talented duo has already marked their sound with EPs on Agoria's Sapiens label and Underground Audio. This time their powerful remix, which is highlighting the dense groove and sharp sounds, fits perfectly for the whole pack.

'Belgian disco savants Rheinzand return with the second in a triptych of remix EPs. This one follows Obey Remixes, which came out Nov 6. 

Kills & Kisses, the original track, comes off Rheinzand’s 2019 self-titled album and has been out as a single as well. The track was one of the more propulsive on the album with an almost micro-house sounding groove, driving down low, blossoming up top. 

This bundle of remixes flow from that vein, expanding on the house angle of Rheinzand’s sound through the work of three fantastic artists.'

He is taking us into a melancholic electronic balad made of raw synths and vintage drums. We love it.
