Getting connected with like-minded folks and to showcase lesser-known producers and labels - regarding all things musical that’s the main source of motivation for me - so drop me a line. I try to avoid boxing Echocentric Recs or DR in a genre, a sound or a format so expect a few surprises (and great music made by people you may not have heard of yet).

Shades Mix

In what could be the first of many, or the last of one, tonight's show features a mix by two of our favourite djs, LA's Nick G (@nicholas-g) and Adelaide's Code618 (@Code618). The brainchild of Code618, the idea is to have two djs share the mixing duties on the show, with the first dj finishing with the same track that the second dj then starts with. We thought about this and will try and continue these mixes with djs from across the globe, so we end up with one long 'continuous' mix.

It's hard to travel around our own countries, let alone around the globe, so we thought we'd try and do this in a musical fashion. Let's see how it goes.

"Unexpectedly, the track is based around a chord from a song often played on the radio during the Second World War. The sample has been manipulated - it almost feels as if the music disappears into the mist. The title references the green flare shot into the sky that allied bomber squadrons took as a signal for take-off. (In case of a red light, they were to turn their engines off and run back to their quarters.) Hence the saying: "Up goes the green flare."”
