So much has happened in the World since I was last active on Soundcloud, nearly 3 years ago. The onslaught every day of so many people, animals and our precious Earth suffering, and no end in sight. I have been writing and painting how I feel, but my first recording is far from this, and of another time, a short, simple, and light offering for now.
I was born and raised in a small rural town that saw large amounts of snowfall in Winter, despite being the South of Scotland. We had plenty of hills to sledge down and no need to go to the Highlands. Through the years, in the many places I have lived in, my best walks were snow filled ones with the dogs, and in the mornings setting off when everything was pure and dazzling, and your whole body felt alive. The dogs would leap about so happy, and in turn affecting us, so that we were just as daft playing with them, totally energized! I give thanks for having had this.
This is for my beautiful wee Bridie, who died nearly 2 years ago.
Good to be with you all again on the Cloud!

This is a song with a bit of a "James Bond" Spy theme to it. It's a tale of two spies, and it plays from her perspective, about the burdens and fears he faces, and in finding his "song"... His purpose and courage.  Noobly sent me this truly inspiring instrumental track and it took my mind to a mysterious place! It is such a pleasure to work with him, as he is a brilliant composer and producer who always puts the right touches on everything, from the Guitar nuances through out the song, to the exquisite mixing to give the song that shine that brings the listener closer. It's a thrill to collaborate with him, and I hope you all enjoy this track as much as we did, making it.

This song started as a guitar composition Tez came up with while on holiday recently. He wrote it with the Eclectic Collective in mind, inspired by ZZ Top, and shared it with the rest of us as soon as he was able to return home and record it. 
  Stephen was first to the trough with this one, adding his thrilling guitar fills and solo. Being from Texas, too, he's no stranger to Biily Gibbons. Mark came next with some synth, and later added some claps and shaker. Ken put his rocking drums in after Mark, laying the groundwork for the groove. Josh completed the rhythm section with his bass soon after, though. Mark decided early on that he was going to add some vocals to this, and Stephen had to adjust his part to suit them. We're all really happy with not only Mark's lyrics, but especially his vocal performance, as well. Eclectic Collective now has a go to member of the band who know's what he's doing with his voice. 
  Once it was in the can, Tez decided to mix it, as it was his song to begin with. He did his always expert job with the task, too. 
  This is an example of Eclectic Collective getting down and dirty for a rocker that has the flavor of all of us firing on all cylinders. Special attention to both Tez and Mark for their inspiring generosity and hard work in conceptualizing this one, too. We all hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

People at Night

Baby of the 80s, teen of the 90s, obsessed with the 60s and 70s; an FM wannabe in a Youtube world. I guess I just wasn't made for these times. I like songwriting in the Gershwin, Tin Pan Alley, Lennon/McCartney tradition. I prefer records to singles. I prefer three minutes to ten.

According to my mama, I was whistling before I learned to talk. I played organ in the Memphis garage rock scene between 2000 and 2016. I've done a lot of studio work, adding keys to records by songwriters that I really admire.

I'm now focused on recording my own songs. I have a minimal home recording set up with a laptop, microphones, cheap guitars, drums, piano, and a grab bag of other toys. All my lyrics rhyme with the truth, or at least I think they do. 

Life is short and there are more good songs then there are raindrops. Which is to say: thank you very much for lending me your ears.
