Liondub proudly presents the debut release from Reggae Roast badman Adam Prescott. The Technique vinyl release features 4 tracks of heavyweight Reggae infused Dubstep pressure with a modern feel yet a classic, timeless sound. Expect deep, dubby passages inspired by Tubbys and Scientist with classic Japanese samplings coupled with in your face, modern drum hits and gut wrenching sub bass. An exciting upcoming producer in the UK digital roots scene, Nottingham’s Adam Prescott has been burning since 2010 with original songs featuring renowned vocalists such as Daddy Freddy, Brother Culture, Dynamite MC, Charlie P & Tippa Irie. His tunes have been played and remixed by Scottish reggae champions Mungo’s Hi-fi, and to-date he has two original solo releases on plate on the Reggae Roast and Nice Up! labels that have garnered heavy radio and club support from A-listers including David Rodigan. Prescott’s debut on Liondub International, Technique, is a full six-track solo EP full of heavyweight rhythms and styles to spare. The title tune leads off and skanks out of the iron gates with hard drops, announcing its confidence in the sample that lends it its title. ‘The Eight Devils’ goes in heavier and more uptempo with broken rhythms, ominous stabs and droning synthesizers. Bringing in the old-school Far Eastern flavor, ‘A State of Mind’ equally references classic dubstep vibes and the foundation sound of Augustus Pablo. With its minor mode and heavy bass weight, ‘Pressure’ fulfills its promise of going into a different session and turns the second side of the EP back towards darker territory during ‘Moving in the Shadows’. It finishes with ‘Sentinel’, featuring a production cameo from new talent Phasix and ending things on a very futuristic reggae tip with implied techno touches. Weighing in with six hotter burners, Adam Prescott’s ‘Technique’ is sure to increase pressure on the floor for the Liondub International massive.

Now on the seventeenth release of forward thinking UK Reggae & Dub music, Reggae Roast are going from strength to strength with many underground hits under their belt already in 2013. This release definitely follows suit, having already done the rounds on dubplate for many months and set alight dances all over the world. They’ve signed up one of the top up and coming UK producers, Adam Prescott, and one of the top mic men on the scene, Charlie P. On remix duty they’ve drawn for the vanguard of dub, Iration Steppas, and digikal stalwart, Tradesman.

With this double A-side release Reggae Roast have lined up two heavy hitting bubblers built to test any soundsystem. ‘Lazy Man’ is a contemporary steppas reimagining of the stone cold classic ‘My Conversation’ by the late, great Slim Smith which is accentuated by Charlie P’s take on the advantages of being Lazy in modern day Britain. ‘Stand Firm’ on the flipside is a slice of ruff & tuff Rootstep with conscious lyrics from Charlie P alongside weighty bass assault and a hard rhythm section from Adam Prescott it’s a stark contrast to ‘Lazy Man’.

Straight outta Nottingham, Adam Prescott has been mashing up dances for many years now combining a crucial selection of dubplates and his own varied productions, which are always steeped in Roots music and Soundsystem culture. Having remixed some of the biggest names in Reggae & Dub such as Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Iration Steppas, Part2Style, Alpha Steppa, Radikal Guru, Vibration Lab and many, many more over the course of his career he has been finally let loose on a Reggae Roast extended player.

Charlie P hardly needs any introduction, however if you have been living under a rock for the past few years he has worked with pretty much everyone worth their salt within the modern day Dub circuit, such as Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Dubateers, Solo Banton, Part2Style to name but a few. Constantly touring the world and smashing Dancehalls on a regular basis Charlie shows no sign of slowing down, add to that he has just finished his second LP produced by none other than Scotland’s finest, Mungo’s Hi-Fi

In the Soundsystem game for over 20 years Mark Iration, one half of Iration Steppas (with Dennis Rootical), has been instrumental in the massive resurgence of Dub music over the past few years. Having set up the legendary Subdub sessions (alongside Outlook Festival’s Simon Scott) to showcase the mighty Iration Steppas Soundsystem, Mark is one of the most in-demand selectors on the scene. As a supporter of Adam’s work Mark has been playing his ‘Year 3000 Dub’ of ‘Lazy Man’ at nuff sessions across the world to sell out audiences. With another busy year planned hot off the back of their new LP ‘Iration Steppas Meets Tena Stelin in the Dub Arena’ Mark and the rest of the crew deserve their place at the top of the Soundsystem league. 

Hailing from Leeds, Tradesman has been exposed to a hot bed of musical activity, more importantly Soundsystem culture, for a number of years. He is a resident at one of Subdub’s more underground offshoots, Dancehall Science, and regularly supports some of the most exciting artists in Dub music today playing sets where the majority of the tunes are his own productions. This has, in turn, led to Scotch Bonnet (Mungo’s Hi-Fi imprint) snapping up his debut release with Parly B, ‘Inna Competition’ which gained support from some of the scene’s top players and took Tradesman’s ruffneck digital sound international. 

Reggae Roast is building a formidable catalogue featuring some of the most exciting artists in the UK and beyond. Key players in the resurgence of the UK Roots scene over the past 5 years, they are a leading light in the new generation of dub music. Setting them apart from the crowd is their ruff n tuff remixes giving the label a unique cross over appeal. Look out for plenty more releases in the coming months from the likes of Dubmatix, Vibration Lab, Ed West, Parly B and many more.

Hempolics debut music video. A prelude to the hugely anticipated forthcoming "Kiss, Cuddle & Torture" album featuring Paolo Nutini, Maxi Jazz and an all star cast of international talent.

Some of you will recognize Green Line as a song originally voiced by the late, great Garnett Silk over Jackie Mittoo’s Hot Milk riddim. Here Grippa Laybourne has kept the classic rhythm to the fore, with echo and rewinds all punctuating the vocal delivered by members Nubiya (also of Leeds-London Afrobeat/hip-hop pioneers Nubiyan Twist) and Dandelion (frontman of mercurial UK-reggae outfit The Drop), complete with a toasting interlude. The sensibility, right from its opening Barrington Levy-esque ‘bongo-didddly-ooooooaahh’, is early digital dancehall, but as you’d expect from Grippa, well-known for his work with Cheeky Records, it also has an effortless commercial sheen.
Overly capable B-side News Readers is no sideshow. Kicking straight in with “News flash, there ain’t no cash, s’all gone on the wall”, it is a poignant statement of disaffection with the negative buzz created by modern media or the “blues feeders” as it’s better put by the song. Featuring the smooth and ear-pleasing soul Sony signed and extended Hempolics crew LSK (AKA Leigh Steven Kenny) who also provides artwork for the upcoming album. Produced with Grippa’s own unique rhythm, this is an unashamedly a bouncy, upbeat number whose positive step belies the scathing political commentary within. Another summer banger.

Quantum Soul is an artist who strives to push boundaries in the dubstep scene. Tainted (he believes), by mainstream awareness of a fraction of the dubstep sound, Quantum Soul seeks to restore depth and spiritual meaning to a genre which has suffered as a result of its current result commercial successes. He regards music is a primal force, and not one which is there for the sole purpose of commidification and exploitation. As such, his music is aimed at drawing the listener and dancer deep into themselves, allowing them to discover what recesses lie behind, beneath and beyond the everyday phenomena they commonly associate with music. His music is profound, and can be appreciated on both headphones and sound systems alike.

Quantum Soul has had releases on Tribe 12, Ranking Records, Dubting, Dubbed Out, Transistor, Pressed Records and Inside Recordings. He also has a release forthcoming on Uprise Audio called 'Underworld'  plus a very special release on Innamind recordings called 'Strong Root' which is due for release in March!

Quantum Soul is also one quarter of the production force Cymatic working with Ruckspin, DLR and Octane.
