We really pride ourselves on being as proactive as possible and preventative, in touch with people really quickly, mostly the same day.  And we've also got an opportunity because of the amazing practitioners that we're able to  work with  to engage that person, to match that person with the best possible person. So for example, if someone's presenting with some really anxiety issues that might be related to work, we'll actually match them with a relevant and appropriate practitioner.

If someone says I only want to work with a female, then we can make that happen as well. What we're really working towards once we get through that initial kind of triage process is to understand what the challenges are for that person, but then more importantly to help them to develop strategies and upgrade their own skills, which is again based on developing their own knowledge so that, when they experience, inevitably, experience issues that are aligned or similar to this in the future, they don't have the same level of reaction that they did. 

So things like strategies and skills, being solution-focused, really helping the person to really focus on the things that are practical for them, empowering them to look at how they can move forward in a more proactive and positive way.

So, Allos Australia. As an EAP provider, I've talked a lot about prevention, proactive approaches, et cetera. What does that mean? Allos, if you take the time to go and have a quick look on the Allos Australia website, you'll notice that there's what we call the three pillars of support.

And if you look at it, the first one is care and care is all about how you, when people do reach out and when people are in need of your support, how do you do that? How do you best optimise those outcomes, which we've talked about. The next part of it is empower. Empower is education. Empower is about providing people with information and education and knowledge that helps them to become better at and more skilled at supporting themselves in their environment.

So, Care, education. The last one is compliance or control, I think it is, but AKA, um, compliance, compliance.

 And the third pillar, of course, is protect. Protect is the other way to look at protect is compliance. So what are the requirements of an organisation, with respect to mental health and wellbeing? We've got very well documented occupational health and safety legislation. Now, there's a real intense and appetite for beefing up the mental health, psychological safety, it's called. 

Legislation as well, and it's just good practice. What we know is that, when we talk about compliance requirements for mental health and wellbeing, we know that it saves organisations a lot of money, but it also, nurtures a really, really good culture within an organisation.

And we are doing a lot of, we're proud to say we're doing a lot of work in that space now. And we're seeing a lot of, I guess cultural change, as a result of what's happening across the board.

:Alright, Adam, tell us about why you chose to establish Allos as an EAP provider.

 EAP. Allos became an EAP provider by default, actually. When I had the idea of establishing a business in the, sort of, mental health area, I wasn't specifically thinking about an employee assistance provider.

What actually took place was when we started to do some competitor analysis and had a bit of a look at, you know, what the market looked like. EAP seemed to be the best way to invert a comms-- commercialize the business ideas that we had. But I was really clear and, really continue to be these days that, what I wanted was an organization that was very prevention focused, very focused on how we can provide solutions and offerings to our clients.

That assist and facilitate them and their staff by extension to become better at and take more control of the inevitable challenges that everyone goes through. And at the end of the day, the way we describe that in our organization is swimming upstream. And so, you know, we still have the reactive elements of what's, you know, people still have need supports when they go through these issues.

But a lot of the stuff that we do subsequent to that is about, you know. Hopefully providing them with more knowledge, more information, more education, and more support that allows them to become better at managing their, their own mental health. The one thing I would say in addition to all of that is, let's, let's not look at mental health and mental illness in the same way.

Yeah, mental health is about, in my view, taking a proactive approach. And if you do that well and you become better at doing that, then the prospect of you having a clinical issue, depression, et cetera, et cetera, become more and more, less, sorry, less and less likely.
