So here's my 2nd fcp2014 entry, which placed a whopping 18th! This is the FTM render of it. Too bad I didn't have enough time to change the volumes of all the 5b parts before the deadline.. but you get the idea ;)

Who Cares

I had recently been working on a score for an animated film. However the project was cancelled.

Anyway, here's the score that was close to completion. The cgi animated film had an other-worldly feel to it; it takes place in a strange overgrown jungle on another planet, and I could imagine this place feeling very humid and claustrophobic. The producer wanted the score to sound sci-fi-ish, with digital-sounding percussion and ambience. I tried to capture this but also with an "organic" feeling that lurks under all the unearthly synth. 

During the film, a small wolf-like creature ventures away from its mother as it innocently chases a bug. It is lead into the heart of the jungle, and ends up being chased by a huge dinosaur-like monster. There was no dialogue in the film at all so the music had to carry the narrative.

This was one of my favorite games growing up, and still holds a special place in my heart. The soundtrack was at the time revolutionary, the first to really use jazz harmonies and melodies. Comment if this was your favorite game.

Hello! My name is Adam Haynes. I am a music composer, arranger, and orchestrator, with a First Class BA Honours in Music Composition for Professional Media.

My music is mainly inspired by video game music, and the western classical music periods. My biggest inspiration is Nobuo Uematsu, and his influences are apparent throughout my compositions. I enjoy the use of strong and memorable leitmotifs and passages, and I hope that the listener will be whistling or humming my tunes subconsciously at the end of the day :)

Most importantly for me is to make the listener feel something when listening to my music - happiness, sorrow, excitement, nostalgia, if I can provoke something from just one listener then I feel satisfied with what I've created.
