Il n'est guère qu'une ombre,
une silhouette dans le soir,
un promeneur aux idées sombres
qui arpente les trottoirs.

Sous le halo des réverbères,
ses traits cruels sont comme maudits.
Planqué sous une porte cochère,
il cherche une proie pour la nuit

Invité au seuil des terrasses,
il choisit qui sera puni.
Parmi les enfants qui rêvassent,
il fait son marché, puis son tri.

Quand ses doigts légers vagabondent
sur le corps qui s'est endormi,
les esprits s'apaisent et se fondent 
dans la torpeur de la nuit.
