The Exile Lounge are Grant and Dan. I think it was late after a dinner party that we dusted off our acoustic guitars and played a few covers for each other. That turned into late night sessions playing mostly obscure songs from artists such as The Avett Brothers, Ween, Bruce Springsteen and Roddy Frame. Years passed. Then Grant said we needed to write our own songs. Dan built a home studio and bought a hollow body jazz guitar. The songs spend time in the space between isolation and connection. We've kept everything raw. In a world of electronic sounds and pristine production, our songs are intimate with a bit of the mystery of jazz. Everything is recorded live in the basement lounge with no edits or overdubs.
