Move-in Mayhem is my tongue-in-cheek tribute to one of the Pioneer Valley’s busiest and most colorful traditions: the annual UMass Amherst student move-in. Every late August, Route 9 and 116 overflow with cars packed to the brim, families juggling boxes, and students starting fresh adventures.

This song captures the traffic jams, the closed roads, the laughter, the stress—and the energy that comes when tens of thousands of new and returning students breathe life back into the Valley. From early check-ins to the official rush between August 27 and September 1, “Move-in Mayhem” tells the story in a playful, folksy way that locals will recognize instantly.

I recorded it with the spirit of community in mind: a mix of humor, observation, and a bit of empathy for everyone stuck in those long lines of cars. Whether you’re a student, a parent, or a Pioneer Valley resident bracing for the annual gridlock, this one’s for you.

Brivele's Spirit

"Borderline Blues" is a raw folk rock anthem that cuts to the heart of a divided nation. With soulful harmonica, driving acoustic guitar, and steady drums, this track tells the story of National Guard troops deployed across 19 states in a sweeping crackdown on immigration violations and federal crimes. Exploring themes of duty, conflict, and the human toll of borders, the song captures the weight of choices made in the haze of troubled times. A poignant reflection on loyalty and loss, perfect for fans of introspective, socially conscious folk rock.

Borderline Blues

I Created an original Hawaiian mele in traditional style, inspired by the August 22, 2025, Kilauea eruption, honoring Pele and the lava flow, using vivid imagery of Halemaumau Crater, the fountain of molten rock, and the cultural reverence described in the NPR article. Include traditional Hawaiian poetic elements like kaona (hidden meaning) and nature imagery, suitable for hula accompaniment.

This was a bit of a stretch for me, while I've been teaching people how to play ukulele and slack-key guitar for a couple decades, the language was a bit tricky for me and I had to get some help from an llm. 

The melody is mine, and actually came from a music session with a student!

With driving guitar riffs, a groovy bassline, and punchy drums, it’s a rebellious, catchy ride that blends tech intrigue with classic rock swagger. Perfect for fans of storytelling anthems with a modern edge.
