While cities like Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Chicago all have thriving dance music communities and artists flocking to live there, the state of Arizona continues to foster its own unique scene as well. Over the years there have been a number of impressive festivals and venues that surfaced in the Grand Canyon state, while an increasing number of artists have begun their path there as well. One of those artists is Lance Fairchild.

After setting off on his mission of bringing house and techno to the masses, it's safe to say that Lance Fairchild is off to a rocking start. Behind the decks he's picked up some serious momentum, having won the Goldrush DJ competition in 2019 and opening for the likes of Chris Lake, Angelz, VNSSA, and John Summit, while also consistently delivering a number of mixes for his growing fanbase to feast on. Further, he helped cultivate the local community through the Project Atlas warehouse party series that same year as well.

In the wake of the pandemic, Lance Fairchild is now looking to stake his claim even further. Taking the time with no shows to do something productive, he began to hone his skills in the studio as a producer with his debut EP, Work Yo Back, coming as a result of that. Out now on Modarnity, this three-track smasher will induce any house lover into a shuffle frenzy wherever they might be listening from. And to celebrate the release and give us a taste of Tucson, Lance graced us with a mix for the This Is Home series. So give it a spin and get to groovin'!

Welcome to Frequency Underground! We feature the best in regional house and techno each and every Thursday. We're stoked to have Atlanta's Sam Wolfe on the show this week! Sam's been crushing it - touring all over the country, putting out releases on UMEK's 1605 record label, and has his own music festival coming up later this month. Despite all that, he's still been kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to support this channel with a mix and interview. ◾How did you come up with your dj name: I used a ton of aliases throughout my early career and then realized I have a perfectly good name to DJ with..... it was almost like how we don't like to hear our own voices on a recording... growing into your own skin and being comfortable with yourself takes time but is something you need to do if you're going to mature and develop as an artist

◾When did you start djing: I downloaded ableton back in 2010 before I ever started DJing and used that to make live mixes... so although it's true I've only been producing for 2 years I tell people I've been on this journey for since 2010 because I spent 9 years telling myself lame excuses why I could never become a music producer.. that's a mental battle all young artists have to overcome

◾Favorite dj moment: I have many many favorite DJ moments, but probably the most impactful was my first festival at Imagine fest in 2019, even though I just played the silent disco... that was my first time on a stage with 1000 people in front of me. And once I got bit by that bug it really inspired me to step on the gas and go all in on production

◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: obviously I love techno, but I really love progressive house, so I'll still spin all the time in Atlanta doing progressive house, & my last release "Reservoir" on Purified was a really cool experience putting out a record that isn't techno.... I won't be doing that again for a long time as I've signed exclusively with Umek and 1605, so will be putting out hard hitting techno for the foreseeable future growing with the label

◾Favorite artists: Eric Prydz, Boris Brejcha, Porter Robinson... and my reason for that is I love how their sets mostly consist of all of their own original music.... they aim to take their listeners on a journey, producing and playing the music that they want to make so I only have the utmost respect for those guys

◾Favorite labels: I am really feeling what Umek is cultivating with 1605--- that's why I am going all in and looking to develop my own unique take on techno and establish it with his label, hopefully can do something unique and different and am very grateful for all of the support early on the Southeast techno scene has given me ❤

◾How did you come up with your dj name: 2 days before I played my first gig, I asked a friend what my DJ name should be and he just said “Blake Million”. I like the name Blake Million because it’s original/professional and it’s also a spin off of my actual name.

◾When did you start djing: I started seriously mixing and Djing when the pandemic hit in March 2020 being able to have time to practice everyday.

◾Favorite dj moment: Having the pleasure to do a ride along with Green Velvet and talk to him about his career, family life, and some crazy stories about him and Claude VonStroke partying together.

◾Favorite genre/subgenre to spin: BassHouse/Tech house

As a former rock and metal guitarist, Adam Westing has been performing on stage since age 12. After discovering a love for electronic music, his style evolved to encompass house, techno, and hip hop influences complete with hair-raising guitar solos. Any live set from Adam is sure to push the limits while matching the vibe - from daytime soulful synthwave to dark and mysterious warehouse sounds. 

Adam’s charisma and skill behind the decks has lead him to share the stage with some of his idols and top artists in the scene, including Chris Lake, Shiba San, Justin Martin, Walker & Royce, Nora En Pure, Gorgon City, Spencer Brown, Green Velvet, I_o, and dozens more. 

His original tracks have been signed to labels in Detroit, Philadelphia, and Toronto, each ranging from opening tracks to peak hour bangers. Adam cares deeply about bringing people together and creating memorable experiences. Catch him moving dance floors and ripping guitar solos in Detroit’s house and techno scene, and in 2022 releasing his best music to date.
