Stretching out towards the Blue Mountains in the west of bustling Sydney, George Alhabel creates an "Omega Station". A seismic bass groove reverberates across plateau escarpments as heavy beat anchors the rhythmic scaffold. White-noise effects crash like waves onto the rocks below, as smooth pads and glistening synths create a momentary stillness before a powerful denouement extends over the sonic horizon. A frequent flyer over the Mango Alley airwaves finds Belarusian star soaring to new heights. Subtle references to "Omega Station" create a new variation that finds brilliance in new aural overtones through Michael A. Familiarly dark, a powerful force of nature rises out of bassline dominance and hypnotic rhythm.

Returning from "Astrona", ARTN presents a new vision of "Omega Station" from a land of rich history and geographical splendour. Cedar tree forests create a verdant canopy as swirling synths whistle through ancient branches to the white-capped peaks of Mount Lebanon. A pulsating bassline develops in familiar patterns as syncopated synth phrases exude class. A new icebreaker from Forty Cats reaches dizzying heights with a bouncing bassline and driving rhythmic force. Cascading melodic effects glisten over Mount Visokaya to provide new sonic focus for "Omega Station", pitching and wheeling in glissando power.

A prolific and equally talented artist, Rick Pier O'Neil has won a host of plaudits for his "One Side of the Underground" series. Now reaching its fifth outing, the "Vol, 5" opener sees Rick join forces with Anthony G, a successful producer on the likes of Balkan Connection, Stellar Fountain and RPO Records. Driven by a pounding beat and subterranean bass groove, a heads-shaking percussion lays the foundation for a rich collage of melodies to flow across "Kohana" in powerful fashion. Ethereal vocal touches add further to the entwined motifs as a cascading arpeggio increases intrigue. Another collaboration sees Modern Agenda, Dopamine White and RPO Records contributor, Echo Daft, create a multi-faceted offering in "Vatsalya". A rolling rhythm creates the perfect vehicle for a swathe of motifs to swirl across the stereo spectrum and a central melody is repeated to potent effect. Once again vocal treatments add to the overall feel as the track waxes and wanes with ease in a progressive house powerhouse. The third original track sees O'Neil in solo guise as a club-friendly bassline soon finds a layer of melodies sat elegantly atop to create a glorious soundscape that revels in textured pads and gated white noise patterns. A deep and mesmerising offering, "Chaliponga" is full of the trademark flair that is so prominent in the French star's music.

Trilucid need little introduction to the underground dance faithful. A UK duo with a host of impressive production credits to their name for Perspectives Digital, Colorize and Songbird, their work for Proton Music has seen 2019s "Glint" and 2020's "Astral" (the latter with Phil Martyn) light up the label with a vibrant and memorable sound. Remixing Petar Dundov's "Salvation" in late 2020, Trilucid now return with a typically impressive remix of "The Sinner". Wrapped in a chunky rhythmic groove, familiar refrains from O'Neil, Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's original shine through amidst a chorus of new production work from the Trilucid studio. As the track evolves a stunning new motif is revealed that commands the listener's attention as it perfectly syncopates to the new percussive backdrop. Building in intensity, the breakdown and third movement showcase Trilucid's abundant skill and craftsmanship.

Fresh from a successful remix of Juan Deminicis and the forthcoming "Run Only Run" EP on Particles, Gux Jimenez has carved out quite a name for himself from his Cartagena home. A veteran of over 200 production credits since a 2008 debut, music signed to UV, Clubsonica Records and Balkan Connection have kept the Argentinean firmly in the limelight. Now debuting on Proton Music, the Gux Jimenez remix of "Imperial" takes the track on a driving voyage of meandering melodic flow, capturing themes that resonate with the original in new and exciting directions as soaring phrases coruscate within a rich sonic tapestry. The powerful groove adds a dynamic edge to proceedings and a rippling arpeggio in the second half adds class and maturity to an impressive debut.

New original tracks plus remixes from Trilucid and Gux Jimenez keep Rick Pier O'Neil front and centre "One Side of the Underground".

Rick Pier O'Neil & Anthony G - Kohana

A legendary name, Filip Kaczmarek has continued to innovate and capture the imagination of the underground dance music fraternity with his Kobana production soubriquet. Evergreen and ever-impressive, his work for Proton Music over a decade and half-century of production credits saw a career highlight in 2014's full-length album, "The Riddle". 2015's "Freefall" and 2016's "Boyhood" EPs continued the flow of original music as the Polish artist now returns with his "Light Flooding" EP. The title track showcases a glorious array of hypnotic textures and sound design wrapped around a hefty beat and staccato bassline. Building through a rising progression of pads and white noise effects, the second half erupts into a pulsating wave of sounds that reintroduces melodic elements and subtly cadenced guitar samples to create a driving finale. The partner track sees the smoother deep house vibe of "Focus" evolve through grooved bass pattern, ticking hats and deep kick. Simultaneously, an LFO'd synth rips through the mid-range in smooth synchrony as rich pads add depth. Hitting its stride in the second half a repetitive vocal cut once again features heavily in the dynamic denouement as the track roll forward apace.

James Monro's contribution to Proton Music has seen a blossoming relationship, resulting in a plethora of high-calibre original material. 2013 and 2015's "Fonik" and "Nectar" EPs paved the way for the full-length "In The Ether" album to follow in 2017, while 2019 marked a new chapter in Monro's portfolio as the first in a new EP series saw "Sanctuary, Vol. 1" hit stores with five sparkling original tracks. With Volume 2 set to follow, James Monro returns to Proton to showcase his remix skills with a rip-roaring interpretation of "Light Flooding" that bludgeons a path forward with chest-reverberating bassline and metronomic percussive drive. Imaginatively making use of Kobana's original components, familiar sounds and effects make their mark while a swathe of original material from the James Monro studio peppers the production, not least in a mesmeric new bassline and sumptuous melodic motif that are heard in the second half after a wave of low-end drama at the breakdown.

After a clutch of releases on Particles, not least in October 2020's "End of an Era" EP that showcased a pair of original tracks plus remixes from Doyeq and about : river, Davide Ferrario now makes his Proton Music debut. Remixes of Rudy and LADS have already seen the rising Italian star reinterpret Proton Music artists as he now appears on the flagship imprint with a typically smooth and elegant offering that reinterprets "Focus" with progressive house flair. Cleverly building exquisite new melodic layers into his remix, a beautifully evocative piano piece graces the breakdown before the vocal cuts so prominent in Kobana's original, make their presence felt alongside a swathe of new chord progressions and richly textured pads. Fragments of the piano refrain swirl into the second half with ease to create a dynamic and hugely impressive debut from Davide Ferrario.

A pair of new tracks from Kobana see bright "Light Flooding" into Proton Music, accompanied by remixes from James Monro and Davide Ferrario.

They now continue building momentum on Lee Foss’ South Of Saturn imprint, delivering two fresh cuts across ‘Why Do You Love Me’.
Title cut ‘Why Do You Love Me’ unveils a sharp production with rolling drums, a grooving bassline and infectious vocals that skip across the track, while ‘Get Down With You’ brings swinging rhythms, suspenseful builds and snaking percussion to round out an impressive label debut.

French DJ/producer Darlyn Vlys delivers a stunning new EP of indie disco for the latest installment on Roam Recordings. With an excellent catalogue of releases on labels such as Get Physical, My Favorite Robot, Sincopat, and recently with the huge success of Runner on Polymath and Horse on Atlant, Darlyn Vlys has become a sought after artist on the rise. For his EP on Roam, Darlyn Vlys offers two new original works. The title track - Bladed - sets the mood with stylish vocals and guitar stabs that hit all the right places. Neo Noir brings the tempo up while keeping the lush soundscape found throughout the EP.

Backing up the originals are two incredible and diverse remixes by Kiwi and Pardon Moi. Kiwi moves Neo Noir in a smooth dreamy direction while Pardon Moi remakes Bladed into full on 80s italo anthem.
