Welcome to the 35TH release for @PuzzleProjectsMusic brought to us by the Italian producer @Ranka and British producer and label boss @BenSpaldingOfficial.

Following on from the inferno-inducing and critically acclaimed single '9AM Madness', Ranka and label boss Ben Spalding team up for another collaboration on PuzzleProjectsMusic.

Their first creation was an acid-tinged peak time cut that picked up support from some of the techno scene's most influential figureheads, including Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna. This time around they delve into the more emotive side of deep house.

With mastering from James Dexter, 'End Of The Earth' is one of those magical cuts that came together in a very short space of time. As many musicians will attest, sometimes ideas are almost channelled from a higher source, and seemingly write themselves. This cut features typically nuanced production, with lots of tiny details and considered production to add depth and a truly unique flavour. 

The beats shift and shake, while a mesmerising low end takes hold and refuses to relent. Soothing pads drift across the bassline, and sombre strings add emotional depth. A breakdown midway through reveals the inspiration behind the track title, with a spoken word sample speaking about the end of the Earth and encouraging the listener to live life to the fullest. 

The second half of this engaging cut continues the immersive vibe, as the bass, beats, pads, and strings roll out neatly until the end. A compelling track which demonstrates Ranka and Ben's versatility and deep knowledge of electronic music.

The guest mix in the second hour is by Mav, a DJ / Producer and live techno performer based in Dublin, Ireland. She sits on the dark/industrial side of the techno landscape and coming from rock and metal roots, she approached electronic music from a different angle. Her exploration of industrial, dark, goth, & EBM broadened her musical viewpoint and influenced her taste and creativity. She loves strong four on the floor beats with aggressive, hypnotic grooves and little or no melody. The set you’re about to hear was created live for A Darker Wave in an improvised session.

Techno Acid Dreaming Days (Kellytranscend)
Composition and Arrangement

“Techno Acid Dreaming Days” exhibits many hallmarks of classic acid techno. It is built on a steady four-on-the-floor beat, with the kick drum driving the rhythm in 4/4 time and off-beat percussion adding groove.


The track likely hovers in the 125–135 BPM range, fitting the acid techno tempo profile.
Instrumentation is dominated by electronic drums and synthesizers: in particular, a Roland TB-303–style bass synth provides the signature squelchy, resonant basslines that twist and mutate throughout the track.


Additional layers (hi-hats, claps, hats, percussion) are  introduced progressively.
Overall, the track maintains a cohesive theme – the “dreaming” motif might come through in atmospheric pads or echoes – while evolving element by element. 

This follows electronic music arrangement best practices, where each section builds on the last (drums → bass → melody → breakdown → drop → outro) to create a story-like flow.


Genre Fit and Originality

This track firmly fits into the acid techno subgenre while showcasing some personal flair. It ticks the genre’s boxes: rugged 303 basslines, heavy analog-style percussion, and hypnotic filter modulation that gives a “rave” vibe.


The arrangement and sounds align with acids and techno classics (think Hardfloor or Josh Wink) – acid lines that “twist, bubble, and mutate” over time.

For sync/licensing, this energetic yet polished track could fit background scores for high-energy visuals – think action sports, tech product videos, or futuristic film/game scenes.

What and who is A Darker Wave?
We are a duo (jacki-e & p-mac) who present A Darker Wave every week only on NLive Radio, Circl8 Radio, Echo Radio & Chill Lover Radio. We put the show together in our home studio. The show is streamed worldwide on the internet. Each show is posted on our Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Hearthis.at, Podbean and You Tube pages once it has been streamed and presents the best in new techno releases.
We also play gigs as A Darker Wave and we have played at events in Germany and all over the UK.
The music we play is techno, tech house, deep house and anything else we like enough to include in the show.
Each show is 2 hours long. In the first hour we go into the mix with our featured EP of the week and the best of the new releases.
In the second hour we invite new and upcoming DJs to come onto the show and do a guest mix.

Why are you called A Darker Wave?
Dark Wave was first used in the 1980s to describe a dark and melancholy variant of new wave and post-punk music and was first applied to UK musicians such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode and Anne Clark. It was also used to describe artists who combined music with performance art, such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire, who challenged and explored the darker and obsessive sides of the human condition.

A lot of techno takes its spirit and ethos from this music, Listen to Throbbing Gristle or Cabaret Voltaire and you can hear the industrial sounds which are a staple of techno music today.

Techno is the outsider of electronic dance music, the punk of today's modern music scene. As Dave Clarke said in an interview with Mixmag, " Techno is edgy. Techno will challenge you......it's the real dark art."

Our radio show, in presenting the best in underground techno and deep house music, and in giving an opportunity for new, up and coming DJ's and producers, is providing an outlet for new techno, which is best described as being the new wave of modern dance music.

Not just a new wave, but with it's incessant bass rumblings, synthesiser drones, pounding drums, melodic top notes and eerie, distorted vocal samples, techno, in all its forms, is a backdrop to and a critique of our post-industrial, consumerist society, one in which our actions are observed 24/7, our democratic freedoms are threatened by our very own governments and our rights to do, think and act as we please are under ever increasing scrutiny. Techno really is A Darker Wave.

When we were listening to music in the 60’s and 70’s, before the electronic tentacles of technology infiltrated the world, we often thought, whilst listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Hawkwind, Captain Beefhart, New York Dolls and Roxy Music, where would music go to in the future? It could never be what was being portrayed in the science fiction movies of the time. Now we know. It can be anything. When we have a recording studio in our own home which is more powerful and versatile than anything available back then, we now know music can be anything and go anywhere. It is only the spark of our imaginations, or lack of it, that holds us back. On our laptop computers we have the capabilities that many artists back then would have given their right arms for. It’s for the uniqueness of the artist to express themselves to be able to stand out from the deluge of music available. Finding those gems is the modern day equivalent of crate digging and when you do, it makes it all worthwhile. Long live music!!!!
