Recentemente in consolle anche sul palco del JamBo, il primo festival italiano che ha riunito a Bologna i fan dell'EDM e degli sport 'urban freestyle', e dopo il successo di critica e pubblico ottenuto con 'Vesuvius Bunks', arriva finalmente un intero album, 'S.E.B.A.' ('Sound Explicit Bassline Anthems'), il debutto da solista di Franky B in uscita il 7 ottobre per la nuova label Black Marigolds. Un disco che supera i confini tipicamente 'strumentali' della 'bass music' e che si presenta come un progetto corale, frutto di una sinergia creativa con artisti ed mc internazionali che provengono da ambiti culturali diversi.
Tra gli ospiti di casa nostra, ritroviamo la più importante crew hip hop del Sud Italia, La Famiglia, capitanata da Sha One, Polo e Dj Simi - qui coinvolti singolarmente in tre diverse tracce - e quella più recente dei Funky Pushertz, un collettivo che trae ispirazione dalla black music più ritmica, il funk; intenso anche il contributo della cantante Pietra Montecorvino, già vincitrice del Premio Tenco nel '91 e sempre attenta a nuove contaminazioni musicali, così come lo stile vocale di Marcello Coleman degli Almamegretta e lo spleen crepuscolare di Alessio Bertallot.
Tra gli internazionali invece si segnalano Deadly Hunta, una delle star della scena reggae dub inglese, partner di Dj Aphrodite e stimato da artisti come Photek e Rodney P, la modella e cantante giamaicana Kgnston Edwards, che ha debuttato lo scorso anno con un singolo insieme alla leggenda dancehall Beenie Man e infine Monsì du six, (atipico) diplomatico francese con la passione per l'hip hop.
Anticipato dal singolo 'TerraTrema' featuring Sha One (in uscita in digitale il 16 settembre), S.E.B.A. ('Sound Explicit Bassline Anthems') contiene anche 'Rise of The Kaiju', la musica dello spot 'The Dark Side Of Japan', pianificato su scala mondiale per la nuova moto Yamaha MT 09, nel nostro paese in onda anche sui canali televisivi da fine settembre.

After the success with critics and audiences obtained with 'Vesuvius Bunks', finally reaches a whole album, 'SEBA' ('Explicit Bassline Sound Anthems'), the debut solo release in October 7th for the new label Black Marigolds. A disc that exceeds the boundaries typically 'instrumental' of 'bass music', and that looks like a choral project, the result of a creative synergy with international artists and mc who come from different cultural environments. Even through the artwork, curated by Luca "Wo" Siano, manifests the ongoing dialogue between tradition and experimentation.
Among the guests of our house, we find the most important hip hop crew of Southern Italy, The Family, led by Sha One, Polo and DJ Simi - here involved individually in three different tracks - and the more recent of Funky Pushertz, a collective that inspired by black music more rhythmic, funk, intense also the contribution of the singer Montecorvino Stone, winner of the Premio Tenco in '91 and always attentive to new musical influences, as well as the vocal style of Marcello Coleman Almamegretta and the melancholy twilight Alessio Bertallot.
Among the international instead report Deadly Hunta, one of the stars of the English dub reggae scene, a partner of Dj Aphrodite and respected by artists such as Photek and Rodney P, model and Jamaican singer Kgnston Edwards, who debuted last year with a single set dancehall legend Beenie Man and finally monsi du six, (atypical) French diplomat with a passion for hip hop. Preceded by the single 'TerraTrema' featuring Sha One (to be released digitally on September 16), SEBA ('Explicit Bassline Sound Anthems') also contains 'The Rise of Kaiju', the music of the spot 'The Dark Side Of Japan', planned on a global scale for the new Yamaha MT 09, in our country also broadcast on television channels by the end of September.

Fatis Tapes in the Oven' is the first volume in an ongoing series from the extraordinary works of  Philip 'Fatis' Burrell who founded Xterminator Productions. The collection of rare and unreleased tapes is curated by Fatis's son, Kareem 'Remus' Burrell who was working very closely in the studio with his father, close to the time of Philip 'Fatis' Burrell's untimely passing in 2011.

Fatis is most known for his productions with reggae giants: Sizzla, Luciano & Beres Hammond. Kareem has dug through his father's old crates to unveil some rare alternate cuts of classics such as Luciano's 'Give Thanks' from his classic album 'One Way Ticket' and Tanya Stephen's 'Tonight'. Kareem also discovered some treasures from relatively unknown artists such as 'Jah Protect Me' from Gott Yo & Judgement morning from Peter Franks. Of note is 'Distance Away' which was recorded in 1997 during the sessions for one Sizzla's greatest albums, 'Praise ye Jah'.  XTM. Nation presents 'Fatis: Tapes In The Oven' Volume 1 will be available in all digital stores on March 30, 2018.

For this month’s Carhartt WIP Radio Show, we present almost two hours minutes of Trojan Records music, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic reggae label. Curated by Canadian DJ, producer and record collector Scott Monteith, aka Deadbeat, the show sees him dig deep into his personal collection and the archives of Trojan Records to conduct a mix that mirrors the many ska, rocksteady, reggae and dub hues of the British label.
 
Founded in 1968, Trojan introduced reggae to a global audience while scoring UK chart hits with artists such as The Upsetters, Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff and The Maytals. Additionally, the label licensed Jamaican music by legendary producers such as Duke Reid and Leslie Kong, helping take their sounds global.
 
To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Carhartt WIP has also joined forces with Trojan Records to create a capsule collection featuring feverish graphics by the Chicago based design collective Boot Boyz, who were given access to the vast Trojan graphic archive.

Here comes another tuff collaboration with RDH Hi-Fi from Nantes, France, we and a few other sounds have been playing throughout the last two years on heavy rotation as exclusive dubplate - always causing nuff ‘furore’ in the dance. For the ones who have been patiently waiting and asking about it: it’s finally ready for the people…

A riddim called 'Hardway' was given to the UK veteran Tippa Irie from London for some lyrical nice up. He approached it with a conscious message and with his original chatting style and wrote and voiced a powerful tune on the riddim - speaking out against all wickedness and injustice by the police - a topic truly important to us. So get ready to skank in unity, teach them about power to the people and 'put up yur hand, if yu don't like police…'

The flipside holds another ruff digital remix inna hardcore fashion. Responsible is none other than the french ‘dub invader’ Natural High Dubs - well-known from his longtime involvement in the Lyon dub scene and projects like High Tone and their sound system force Dub Invaders.

Musical ammunition against police oppression.

Both sides were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, mastered with care and pressed on high quality 180g vinyl by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK - of course also digikally available. The artwork is again by none other than ohoroho from Slovenia.
