I had the good fortune of trying a real Electronic Music Studios (EMS) VCS III Synthi. 

This is one of the first improvisations, several layers of improv onto tape via 3 head reel to reel tape delay.

Sound piece by L-R (Jean-Yves Leloup & Jean-Philippe Renoult", taken from the L-R & RadioMentale album "I Could Never Make That Music Again" (Sub Rosa, 2007). The whole album is a collage of voices and fragments of interviews we did with many electronic music producers, such as Mad Mike, DJ Shadow, Coldcut, Herbert, Aphex Twin and many more.
