**Production Notes**

Netlabel Remixes for the Disquiet Junto are always nice - in my hands, they tend to become beats ranging from 90 to 120 bpm. This one's 104 bpm.

All the sounds were made from the material provided. The samples were used for all the drums, drumloops and gnarly melody loops. 

Well, I cheated a bit and rendered one MIDI melody / bassline from the original sample material. Ableton Live does that magic trick. Took an 303 wannabe emulation I built several weeks ago in Live. The rest was twisting knobs and trying to get the levels right.

4 hours of work. My ears bleed. Tired now. Good nite.

Last Kiss, Lingering

after downloading and listening to the three tracks (which are all excellent in their own right) I cut  out the bits required and looped parts pitchshifted parts and drank beer.
then i relooped and resampled parts, a bit of panning here and there and more beer eventually I ended up with this, which is exactly what I really wanted in the first place.

happiness is wanting what you have, eh?

I've been trying to incorporate Reason more into the process. Took the clips and imported them, tempo stretched and bounced to Rex loops. Copied loops to tracks and altered the notes. Did some minimal arranging. Added an Alligator to one, an Echo to another, and a Synchronous to the third. I asked Figure for the name.

Fireworks - Disquiet0164 - Juntofireworks

**Production Notes**

Here’s the story: In December we were invited to celebrate New Years Eve with some friends. I filmed some of the fireworks, which were absolutely spectacular, as we were higher up in the  mountains and the guys in the valley were blasting galore. 
Our fireworks were a lot smaller, but I managed to film a nice one. You find the clip here: http://goo.gl/Yr4T19 (MOV, ZIP, 54 MB). 

I extracted the audio from the clip. There are no additions whatsoever. Cut it, sliced it, resampled it, made it fit to a 96 BPM grid in Ableton. The tonal bits are from the bystanders. 

This was fun - Happy New Year!

Step 2: Listen to the musical content of the recording — rhythm, tempo, tone, arc, melody.

Step 3: Create a piece of music that begins as five seconds of that field recording, and then emerges out of the sound of fireworks.

Step 4: Upload the finished track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud.

Step 5: Be sure to include link/mentions regarding the source tracks.

Step 6: Then listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow Disquiet Junto participants.

My 33 1/3 series book about the Aphex Twin album <i>Selected Ambient Works Volume II</i> was published in 2014. The book was one of the top 5 bestselling titles for the calendar year, and in 2015 was ranked by Pitchfork as one of the "33 best" of the 100-plus books in the 33 1/3 series. It has subsequently been translated into Japanese (2019) and Spanish (2018)

Since 2012 I have moderated the Disquiet Junto group, which began on SoundCloud. More at disquiet.com/junto. 

I've written for Nature, Pitchfork, The Wire, Down Beat, Boing Boing, NewMusicBox, Red Bull Music Academy, Art Practical, the website of The Atlantic, and many other publications. 

I've exhibited sound art at galleries in Los Angeles (Crewest), Manhattan (apex art), and Dubai (DUTAC), and I had a audio-visual installation at the San Jose Museum of Art as part of its 45th anniversary.
