A while ago I found myself in the bloody, fentanyl filled streets of San Francisco with an all consuming craving for two things: old Ministry cassettes, rumored to be overflowing from a uniquely bizarre old man’s collection at a not too distant swap meet, and a very particular Casio keyboard I remember possessing and subsequently destroy in my blurry, half forgotten childhood.

The Casio was easy enough to cop in our futuristically shitty, consumer, convenience culture trash heap of a world. The internet led me to the doorstep of a dirty, red faced, red haired hippy girl who was itching to trade her “toy piano” for some weed and a ride to the Haight. I obliged and the sweet Casio keyboard was mine all mine.

In an effort to satisfy the second part of my mission, I met Jeremy, my viking bearded band mate, across the Bay at the Oakland swap meet, where whispers of an allegedly massive industrial music cassette collection reverberated in the collective ears of every leather jacket wearing boy & girl within hitchhiking distance.

After wading through endless tables of broken electronics, armpit stained band shirts, and bootlegged CDs, we finally found the crusty old timer and his massive moving boxes full of cassettes. Less bizarre than mute, the silent old man sat vegetative and spaced out behind his detritus pit of broken, sharpied, and mostly caseless boxes of cassettes. Fifteen minutes and $12 later, I walked off with two Ministry cassettes and one Cabaret Voltaire.

Headed back to Jeremy’s place, armed with the cassettes and that Casio, we were inspired to record two songs that night. 'Satellite' and 'Celebrity Genocide'. With the aide of our old friend vodka and the last of Jeremy’s mushrooms, we created, we wrote and we recorded our little psychedelic, black hearts out. Out of sheer egomania, we documented the whole process with a VHS camera, and made a music video from the footage.

A big artistic mess for you, the informed but submissive listener, to wash away your pains and bathe in the waters of love.
