Eric has inspired millions as composer, conductor, innovator, broadcaster and charismatic public speaker. His compositions rank among the most popular and frequently performed of the early 21st century, their reach broadened since 2010 by the extraordinary success of his online Virtual Choir project. Light & Gold, his first album as composer and conductor, won the 2012 Grammy® Award for Best Choral Recording and instantly topped the US and UK classical album charts.

Born in Nevada, he discovered a passion for choral music while studying at UNLV and he began composing soon after. He went on to study at the Juilliard School of Music in New York under John Corigliano. Many of his choral compositions, Cloudburst, Lux Aurumque and Sleep among them, have entered the standard choral repertoire and his orchestral music has been performed by some of the world’s most distinguished orchestras both sides of the Atlantic. Eric is currently Composer-in-Residence at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, UK.

A distinguished speaker, Eric has been invited to address the UN Leaders Programme, give the closing plenary at Davos World Economic Forum and to speak for UNICEF and Google among others. He has appeared twice on the main stage at the global TED conference in Long Beach CA, earning standing ovations on both occasions. Recent Virtual Choir projects include ‘Glow’ written for the Winter Dreams holiday show at Disneyland© Adventure California and the Virtual Youth Choir, in association with UNICEF, which premiered at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Broadcast live to 119 countries worldwide, Eric made his iTunes Festival debut with his professional choir in 2014, inviting multi award-winning composer and conductor Hans Zimmer to join him on stage. The performance was consequently released as a live album. Eric returned to the Minnesota Orchestra for a second residency in 2015 culminating in three performances at Orchestra Hall.


St Jambience uses guitars, looping, radios, noise and other stuff to make music. A self titled album was released in early 2012 on the 4-4-2 label. St Jambience is the work of Sydney based muscian, Matt Wakeling.

I play guitar, and occasionally bass and drums, and have been gigging around Sydney in various bands since 1998 or so. Past bands include 'Starless', 'The Resistance', 'Cities Of The Red Night', 'Found At Sea' (aka 'Helter'), and 'Marosi di Buriana'. Currently play guitar in blues/rock band 'Tom Stone and The Soldiers of Fortune'. I also play drums in the punk/rock band 'Rawrus Tongue'.

Taking influence from some of the masters of Electronic Rock and Industrial music, including Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Garbage, and Gary Numan, Reactivated Reality is a solo project which is based in a home studio where James writes and records all the instrumentation and then patiently waits for a vocalist to walk through his door. While he waits, he mixes what he has, and then starts another track. This process has yielded a back catalogue of over 50 completed tracks, as well as quite a few short movie soundtracks and jingles. Residing in south western Sydney, James is keen to get his music out there by any means possible, and he hopes you enjoy what he is doing. He also asks that if you know of a vocalist who may be interested in working with him, to let him know, his door is always open.

The Daily Melodies project is an exercise in creativity.  Short pieces are composed and recorded in one sitting, usually within a 2 hour period.  

The basic rules are:  
- Acoustic only (no FX but reverb) 
- Must finish composing in one sitting (hence short tunes) 
- Always begin from a different starting point**
- Accept the good and the bad (no deleting anything that hits a wall).

Originally the pieces were created on a daily basis, hence the name!

About Me:

I began playing guitar at the age of 4. My father, Tony Calabro, was and continues to be my teacher and mentor. Tony has studied with Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Steve Erquiaga, John Williams, Ike Issacs, Laurie Ralphs to name a few.

One thing my father instilled in me was a love of diversity, skill, emotion/feel, and creativity. I have been blessed to be exposed to so many beautiful sounds in my life. Notable impressions left with me were Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Segovia, Jim Hall, YES, Chick Corea, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, to name but a few.

As I got older, my influences broadened through new musical friendships. Particularly those forged in the band The Grand Silent System. The 6 other members of this band were very diverse in their tastes, so I was introduced to many sounds and artists that I hadn't yet heard. Examples of the diversity were King Crimson, Bill Frisell, Squarepusher, Stockhausen, Colleen, Boards of Canada, Trilok Gurtu, Secret Cheifs III... this list is enormous!

Once a wife & children came into my life, my connection to nature and an organic life started to develop - rapidly. Living a more sustainable life went hand in hand with my new desire to play acoustic music.

My appetite for creativity has always been insatiable. A jigsaw puzzle is a good analogy for me regarding music - the act of completing the jigsaw is more engaging than the end result, and the act of creating music is more important to me than the piece that emerges at the end.

The future? All I know is it will emerge naturally rather than being planned. Not unlike each composition... so I guess i'm living a composition in progress...
