All good things come to an end, but this is also the beginning 👀 For the end of our streaming series "Waiting for NACHTIVILLE" we invited Nachti darling Job Jobse @jobjobse. Job is the perfect cast for a fitting end and at the same time for the new beginning of our festival at the Baltic Sea. He has already proven that his knowledge of 90s trance is almost infinite and over the years he has earned a permanent place in the middle of the Nachti family. We would like to say thank you to our guest Job Jobse and also to the fantastic crew, who with a lot of love and creativity makes it every time to transmit a buzz of Nachti Feeling, even through a stream. American Kareem Ali (@kmx19) came to dance music late but has very quickly made a big impression. The formally trained trumpeter has a fascination with the cosmos that colours all his music. Over nearly 50 releases he has proven himself adept at making everything from sleek electro to deep house, driving techno to cinematic ambient. The breakout producer also runs his own CosmoFlux label which he hopes will one day become a non-profit that hosts day parties aimed towards young people of colour. 

In the mix for us this week, he laces together a smooth and seductive set of richly musical house grooves. It is songs that he is playing mostly, with proper chords and gorgeous vocals that always enrich the soul. Ali is a devout man who is averse to dance music's tendency towards hedonism, but his selections here truly uplift. There is a spiritual aspect to what he does that warms the heart and brings joy in a different sort of way.

Four days ago, we capped off a season of parties that, at one point, we weren’t sure would ever happen. Mister Sunday was our first return to the dance floor after lockdown, and it remained, week in and week out, a source of joy and rejuvenation in the last six months’ roller coaster of reopening.

This mix was recorded at the finale of Mister Sunday’s outdoor season, with Nowadays founding resident DJs and Mister Sunday dons Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter tearing through rough-and-ready industrial, propulsive New York soulful house, bubbling big room techno, boisterous rave tracks, acid melters, Italo jams, jazz dance and all kinds of other cathartic sounds.

"The mix was recorded at my studio, Metal Box, which is situated on a peninsula where the River Lea meets the Thames. I recorded it late at night, looking over the river and the adjacent steel factory. I used two Technics 1210s, my trusty old Vestax PMC-46 mixer and a RE-20 Space Echo pedal.

I only DJ with vinyl, a habit I don’t think I’ll ever break. Some of these records, like the Shake’s Frictionlized and Florence, are 30 years old, so please excuse the scratches.

I didn’t plan this mix, just decided on an opening record and rolled from there, which is how I play out - searching for blends and that magical feeling when two records meet and form something new, channelling the feeling of unity and escape that occurs when you get lost in the music." - Richard Fearless
