TAU proudly welcomes Sam Shure to our planet of musical wonder and discovery. The Berliner has been making waves since 2016, carrying on his family lineage by taking up music (his father is a renowned Egyptian jazz musician). Over the past seven years, Sam’s upwards trajectory has been buoyed by his natural talent and ability to weave organic sounds from a variety of sources into his productions. As a DJ and a producer, he embodies a worldly approach, utilizing a myriad of sounds from around the globe to bring a distinctly human element to his compositions. The title track kicks off this four-tracker with a menacing, though pensive vibe. A combination of jaunty digital elements and a vicious riff gives the track balance. Before we know it, there’s a haunting, string-led breakdown, which gives us a little breather before we return to the ominous atmosphere.

‘Frontal’ is next, rolling out with a more pumping, tribal rhythm. Vocal clips and sounds are joined by the familiar funk of a ‘wah wah’ guitar,
creating an effortless groove. Sam’s technical ability and musicality really comes through with the short breakdown and gnarly second half, with a superb switch up.

After that it’s ‘Maybe’, which features more of Sam’s exemplary drum programming. A soulful female vocal pops in and out of the background to give us a serenade. As the track progresses, it becomes more energized, an urgent riff drops in, and the vocals gain more prominence. By the time we enter the second half, the vibes are high and there’s unbridled dancing…

Lastly, ‘See Yourself’ takes it back to those primal, tribal elements with the beats going to work from the very beginning. A dense low end rumbles away, and a vocal clip appears intermittently to add dynamism to this cut. In typical style for Sam, this one progresses in a mesmerizing manner. As he adds new layers of melody and harmony to the cut, the tension increases, and we’re locked into its groove.

Clubsonica Records opens the fall season by unveiling the fourth edition of their Sampler Series. Following its debut in 2021, Clubsonica's Various Artists Sampler Series is now a regular and much anticipated offering in the label's catalog, fitting nicely alongside the MMW and ADE showcases which operate under a similar ethos. The trending series has been a platform not only for a wide assortment of upcoming talent, but also some of progressive music's most notable names in Golan Zocher & Greenage, Kamilo Sanclemente, Ric Niels and more. Now embarking on the fourth edition, Clubsonica boss Juan Pablo Torrez has compiled the series' most comprehensive volume to date, featuring new music from (in order of appearance): Cybek, Electric Dada, KAZKO, Mauricio Brigante, Ruben Karapetyan and Solis (US). 

Making his label debut with selection one is Cybek. With a fresh approach to the melodic house genre, Cybek would enjoy a quick ascent, signing projects to Solee's Future Romance and Berlin based imprint IAMHER across the next calendar year. Now, continuing on an upwards trajectory, Cybek makes his Clubsonica debut with the astral sounds of ‘Eternal'. 

The second selection welcomes Electric Dada to the label with ‘Branium'. The duo's progressive style was immediately recognized for its emotive qualities and strong dancefloor sensibility. With a recently released collaboration with roku's Da Luka, Electric Dada now make their Clubsonica debut with the smooth uplifting sounds of ‘Branium'. 

Moving forward to selection three is KAZKO who returns with his latest studio creation ‘Back to Paradise'.. 2023 has proved to be a breakout year for KAZKO, adding projects for Freegrant Music, onedotsixtwo, Songuara and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden to his resume. Now, looking to build on the success of his label debut ‘Sun Dance', KAZKO returns to Clubsonica with the organic vibes of ‘Back to Paradise'. 

The collection's fourth selection is provided by Mauricio Brigante who makes his label debut with ‘Nma'. With a sound that often finds the creative space between progressive and tech house, Colombian artist Mauricio Brigante has found a home on BOOTH, Serrano's Kitchen and Exx Boundless, while electronic music tastemakers Claptone and Oxia have praised his work. Now, looking to explore a deeper side of his studio repertoire, Mauricio makes his Clubsonica debut with the soulful sounds of ‘Nma'. 

Selection five finds Ruben Karapetyan returning to the label for his first original offering ‘Hyperphantasia'. His emotive synth leads, cross-cultural motifs and tough, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a resonant worldly sound that is all his own. On the strength of this fresh approach, Ruben has earned praise from trendsetters such as Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music on the genre's premiere imprints in Meanwhile, Mango Alley, Movement and The Soundgarden. Having made his Clubsonica debut with a well-received remix of ‘Kamikaze' by K Loveski and Geronimo Eguiguren, Ruben now lands back on the label with the deep and enchanting vibes of ‘Hyperphantasia'. 

The release concludes with Solis (US) making his label debut with ‘Accelerator'. David's unique amalgamation of sound would earn him fans across all those genre spectrums, while landing key releases via Camel VIP and Tibetania Records. Now embarking on the most anticipated project of his young career, Solis debuts on Clubsonica with the darker monochromes of ‘Accelerator'. Tastefully nostalgic, it rounds out a must have fourth edition of Clubsonica's Sampler Series, one where an array of talented artists showcases their best in organic, progressive and melodic house trends.

Mia Mendi return to their melodic roots for another strong two-tracker on Watergate Records. 
 
The Manchester duo have been in plum form, previously enjoying credits on the Oberbaumbrücke imprint with the excellent ‘Ubi’ EP with Thomas Gandey and last year’s ‘Robosynapse’ outing, which saw them explore nostalgic-tinged soundscapes including nu wave, synth pop and cosmic house.  
 
‘Enter Machina’ sees them coming full circle to craft a pair of sleek melodic gems. The title track is a gutsy rollercoaster that swings between dreamy soundscapes and full-bodied psy-laced progressive with loads of builds and drops along the way. A thrilling cut. ‘Distant Present’ doesn’t let up the spicey intent. A stunning composition that touches on tech, psy, prog and vocal-led electronica that’s made for big moments.

Techbrainers is a brand new project formed by Sculptor, who you might remember from his two previous release on Magnitude Recordings, and his brother. With 'Valhalla EP' they release their debut.

The EP kicks off with the title track, a deep intelligent and intense progressive house cut, whilst on the flip side you'll find 'Mushroomseating', an infectious funky and playful track. The final track is titled 'Revolt' and is the deepest of the three, perfect for building up the night.

Celebrating its 50th release, Balance Music sees the return of Danny Bonnici to the label alongside German production wizard, Sanoi, where the duo showcase their 'Infinite Horizons' EP. As a successful engineer and producer over a 25 year period, Danny Bonnici has consistently dined at dance music's top table with a feast of delicious offerings, and now, he joins forces with the talented New Zealand based artist Sanoi for the first time as a collaborative pairing. Danny Bonnici & Sanoi perfectly illustrate their combined skill and craft on 'Infinite Horizons'. Anchored by a chest thumping kick, and head shaking hi hat percussion, a huge growling bassline supplies low end aplenty for a gloriously twisted and distorted motif to evolve into an immaculately cadenced dancefloor centrepiece. Metronomic in execution, the mid point breakdown provides the perfect opportunity for the central phrase to shine before an influx of counterpoint and complementary motifs create vibrancy. Hitting its stride again courtesy of a fizzing shaker pattern, 'Infinite Horizons' bristles with potent dancefloor intent. The second track, 'Reflections Of The Other Side' revels in wondrous muted synth phrasing in the early movements. Freeform analogue sequences coruscate in swirling patterns to create a spine tingling melody that is enhanced by a mirrored bassline pattern. Through a stripped back breakdown, redolent in swirling delays and melodic intensity, the track picks up the pace again on the other side with resplendent rhythmic intensity. Also mixed in Dolby Atmos, the Danny Bonnici & Sanoi's immaculate production skills are given a sonic treatment that must be heard to be believed. Melodies fire overhead enveloping the listener in a tapestry of sound that entwines percussive elements and a chorus of effected sounds in stratified layers that are so sharply defined that they become precision instruments in the hands of aural engineers at the height of their powers.
