Release Promo Review

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of May by welcoming Carsten Halm to the label for his debut EP. Based in Cologne, the German artist has been a DJ for well over a decade, playing some of his country's trendiest clubs along with his self organized events. As a producer Carsten has made considerable strides since first appearing in 2016. Solee's Parquet Recordings has been a comfortable home for the Cologne resident, with three releases landing in 2020 that earned play and support from Animal Trainer, Artbat, Eelke Kleijn, Format-B and Solomun. Now following 2021 offerings via Clubsonica Records, Monkey League, Traum and UV, Carsten makes his Movement Recordings debut with 'My Heart', alongside a remix from Jerome Isma-Ae.

Destined to be a highlight in Carsten's discography, it is the poignant stylings of the title selection which get the release underway. Rhythmically charged from the outset, its smooth cadence, striking stabs and buoyant groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Emotive chord changes and haunting vocal phrases make for a thrilling first act, carrying momentum and mood into the main break. Glowing swells and soulful phrasing delight across the centrepiece, further enhancing the genuine mood, as a timely drum roll and rising sonics unite for a tasteful crescendo and balmy finale.

Making his second appearance on the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'My Heart' is Jerome Isma-Ae. The German artist has been one of the most unique, sought after and best-selling electronic music producers of the last decade. Combining influences of progressive house and techno with distinguished drum patterns, shapely basslines and a keen dancefloor sensibility have led Jerome to projects via Anjunabeats, Songspire and his own JEE Productions imprint. Having made his Movement Recordings debut in 2018 with a well received remix of 'Delta' by Ziger and Blusoul, Jerome now makes a welcome return to the label with a thunderous rendition of 'My Heart'. Adding more of a progressive state of mind, the German artist carves out a dynamic groove adorned with firing percussive, charming vocal fragments and fresh rhythmic themes. Emotive chord changes and poignant pads emerge as the second movement evolves, bringing goosebump worthy moments to its dance floor inspired framework, and ultimately propelling the track to a thrilling finale.

Antrim’s Or Two Strangers opens the new year with a first-time collaboration from K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti. Russian artist K Loveski has been a beloved figure of the progressive house underground for well over a decade. A series of releases for Omid 16B’s Alola Records spearheaded what has been a thirteen-year creative swell. The Saint-Petersburg resident now boasts a resume highlighted by releases via Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Balance Music, Mango Alley and Or Two Strangers, while also earning the support of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J along the way. Meanwhile, Argentinean artist Nicolas Benedetti has enjoyed a quick rise since first emerging in 2019 with releases via 3rd Avenue, Droid9 and Or Two Strangers affiliate Strangers Beats. The Buenos Aires resident would quickly earn the praise of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Alex O'Rion, Mariano Mellino, Nicolas Rada and more, while landing key projects via Balkan Connection, onedotsixtwo and SLC-6 Music. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti unveil a three-track showcase for Or Two Strangers entitled ‘Laurana’.

The release begins with the duo masterfully synthesizing their talents into the progressive anthem that is ‘Laurana’. Mountainous grooves and wavy lines make for a smooth hip swinging energy, while cosmic creativities and ethereal phrasing add colour and depth across the first movement. Rhythm remains locked, while energy multiples with each successive pass, as percolating synth maneuveres and robotized vocals provide a bridge into the main break. Tension peaks across the interlude with colourful sonics and collapsing waves of light uniting in a pyrotechnic vortex, perfectly setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

The second selection ‘Spiral Nothing’ continues the pure progressive lean of the release with cosmic effects and driving percussion arrangements blanketing a character-rich capsizing groove. A touch more atmospheric than its predecessor, misty sonics provide a colourful backdrop for sweeping effects and clustered stabs to drive energy into a memorable break. The intuitive musical dialogue held between the duo is impressive across the centrepiece, as melodic coaxes and soulful synth phrasing emerge for moments of meditative bliss, as the beats drop for a groove-centric finale.

Deeper and more elusive still is the third and final selection ‘Fashionably Late’. Thematically distinct, as funked-up bass stabs and kaleidoscopic effects ring out in timeless suspension, creating a utopian narrative where indistinct vocals and enlightening rhythms resonate in a rare combination of atmosphere and groove. A thought-provoking conclusion to an excellent first-time partnership from K Loveski and Nicolas Benedetti, an artist duo who have delivered some of their most engaging work to date here.

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the new year by welcoming Weird Sounding Dude back to the label for his debut EP. As one of India's rising musical mavericks, Weird Sounding Dude has emerged from his country's electronic landscape as a premiere progressive house talent. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc, the Bangalore resident often touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling the divide between intergalactic design and groove-centric hypnotism. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for the scene veteran, with a contribution to the label's 'GLBLMVMT3 - Exploring India' collection marking his debut in 2020, a project which would lead to a 2021 remix of Not Demure's 'Aifos'. Now, as 2023 begins to take shape, Weird Sounding Dude returns to Movement Recordings with a two-track showcase entitled 'Fallen Poet'.

The title selection finds Weird Sounding Dude composing with a strong sense of rhythm and groove. Beginning with a smooth pulse, its smoky resonance eventually reveals a backbone of monolithic beats and thunderous bass stabs. Instantly seductive, it's this muscular framework which provides the vehicle for panoramic textures and dissonant synth blasts to work their magic, ultimately resulting in a resounding dance floor escapade.

Meanwhile, the companion piece 'Lost Ark' lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, as Weird Sounding Dude reaffirms his ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge. Mountainous grooves and clever rhythmic co-actions underpin a fascinating blend of striking chord stabs, balmy atmospherics and muted piano's, the latter of which provides a heartfelt interlude, before confidently returning to the groove for a heads down finale.

Clubsonica Records opens the new year by welcoming Sex Mind to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Bolivia, Jorge Burgos aka Sex Mind has been delighting electronic music fans with his colourful progressive sound for the better part of a decade. His penchant for crafting nostalgic melodies has carried him to performances at Colors Fest and Electro Color, two of Bolivia's premiere electronic music events. Choosy in his projects, Sex Mind's resume is short and impactful, with time and care put into each release and carrying much anticipation as a result. Now, presenting their first offering of 2022, Clubsonica welcomes Sex Mind to the label with 'Niflheim | Alfheim', alongside remixes from D-Nox and Gai Barone and Simply City.

Providing the lone interpretation of 'Niflheim' are D-Nox and Gai Barone. Hailing from Germany but now based in Argentina, D-Nox has continued to thrill fans with both cutting edge music and enlightening DJ sets. Whether operating in solo capacity or as one half of D-Nox and Beckers, the German artist lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on Bedrock Records, Sudbeat Music and his own Sprout imprint. Meanwhile, Italian producer Gai Barone has achieved similar success across his fourteen-year career. Regarded by fans and contemporaries as a master melodic craftsman, Gai continues to deliver some of the most emotive music that the electronic underground has to offer. A recent partnership with British producer Luke Brancaccio has yielded chart topping releases via Bedrock, Lost and Found, Renaissance and Selador. Having worked together previously on projects for KaterMukke, Parquet and Where The Heart Is, D-Nox and Gai Barone now synthesize their talents once again for Clubsonica with a powerful take on 'Niflheim'. Warm pulsating basslines and rebounding rhythms set the course for snatches of fragmented vocals and acid-like lines to work their magic leading into the break. A gorgeous contrast from the talented duo and one which is explored further across the captivating interlude, as a pitch bending narrative paves the way for a wonky groove-centric drop and fiery percussive finale.

The Cali resident has showcased his music via highly regarded imprints such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Replug and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from the genre’s premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Having been paired together previously on projects for Perspectives Digital and Modern Agenda, Golan and Kamilo unite once again with a stellar rendition of ‘Mythical Creatures’. As a favourite of Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Hernan Cattaneo across 2022, the duo’s remix has received considerable play time, stealing the air at the world’s trendiest clubs and biggest events, most notably BNP Open Life, Loveland, Midway, Moments, Womb and more. Highly sought after as a result, the duo takes inspiration from the original, remodeling the track into a magical slice of groove-centric progressive house. D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the spring season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut single. Following a ten-year hiatus, the Armenian-born, USA-based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Univak. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genre's trendsetters Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatport's competitive sales charts. Having made his first appearance on SLC-6 Music last year with a remix of K Loveski's 'Renzzo', the Los Angeles resident now returns to the label for his first single entitled 'Meteorite', alongside a remix from Jerome Isma-Ae. The Original Mix finds Ruben operating at the peak of his creative powers and aiming squarely for the dance floor. Elasticated synths, delicate chord stabs, percolating effects layers, charged beats and mountainous basslines form the solid structure of the track. An emotive break, complete with thought-provoking vocal samples, puts your senses on high for an exhilarating finale.

Making his label debut, and providing the lone interpretation, is progressive music icon Jerome Isma-Ae. Continuing a strong spring season, Deepwibe Underground welcomes Analog Jungs to the label for their debut EP. Made up of Argentinean artists Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte, Analog Jungs first emerging in 2015, quickly earning the praise of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The duo's colourful, club friendly sound flourished as a result, finding a home on some of the genre's trendsetting imprints, such as Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden. Now, following a remix of Dmitry Molosh's 'Butterfly', Analog Jungs makes their Deepwibe Underground debut with 'No Control', alongside a remix from Kostya Outta.

Beginning with the title selection ‘No Control’, Analog Jungs display that groovy melodic style for which they has become known. Led by a tough chunky groove, its dance floor sensibility is high from the beginning, as rhythms ripple, chord stabs strike and percussion flickers across the first act. An impressive selection of drums is one of the most engaging elements of the journey; masterfully manicured and carrying some swing heavy weight which is beautifully offset with moments of textural bliss, before transferring energy into a smooth yet scintillating finale. The companion piece ‘Eviterno’ follows with an equally groovy nature and perhaps an even greater melodic theme. It’s all set up by Analog Jungs typically strong progressive drive where capsizing rhythms and undulating grooves work in perfect unison with clattering percussion and dancing stabs. The break is where the real magic happens however, as the duo let’s the beats and drums melt away into a primary theme which is both memorable and emotive. Gorgeous music from Analog Jungs.

The release concludes with label stalwart Kostya Outta returning for the lone remix of ‘No Control’. The Belarus based artist continues a red hot streak of outstanding progressive productions with another sensational job here. A more pronounced groove proves immediately striking as it’s rough and rugged character flows through emotive chord changes, while dreamy melodies paint some bucolic magic above. Not content with an already brilliant rework, Kostya adds to the narrative across a dense atmospheric break, where tension meets emotion and perfectly segues into a arp-infused drop and feel good finale. It rounds out one of Deepwibe Underground’s all time best releases and one which has should win over even the most discerning progressive house aficionados. Highly recommended.

We're excited to welcome back Tantum, aka Thomas Koch, back to Juicebox Music with his single "Korner" as our 65th release. Tantum made his debut with us in the beginning of 2019 with a 3-track EP and further cemented his association with a remix of Eric Lune's "Tantra" & another EP in mid-2020. The German artist, now based in Berlin, quickly grabbed the attention of well renowned labels from the get-go, namely Jonas Saalbach's 'Radikon' & Super Flu's 'Monaberry'. Hot off the press with his 3rd EP on Guy J's 'Lost & Found', Tantum serves up his latest offering titled "Korner", a deep yet powerfully driven track that ticks off all the check-boxes that define his much revered signature sound as well as exploring a wider sonic palette.

Making his much revered return to the imprint is Sri Lanka's very own Subandrio. An absolute master at his craft with an unmistakable sound, Subandrio's faithful following isn't just limited to his home country but touches every progressive house fan around the world. His powerful productions have found their way home to Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat', Cid Inc's 'Replug' & many others. His last association with us was "Bounties from Within", an ambient contribution to Chapter 2 of our 'Tales of Time' compilation. Subandrio continued to stretch out into the electronica space with an EP on Sahar Z & Guy J's downtempo imprint 'Armadillo Records'. Subandrio's take on Tantum's "Korner" maintains the tone of the original while turning it a little darker with a bit of an ethnic-inspired twist during the breakdown.

Deepwibe Underground opens the month of May by welcoming Dmitry Molosh back to the label for a new EP. Having established a bond with the Estonian imprint in 2021, Belarusian artist Dmitry Molosh has made the label one of his primary landing spots. Since making his Deepwibe Underground debut Dmitry has recorded seven originals and four remixes for the label, while also delivering five remixes for the label’s organic offshoot -102C. The last two calendar years saw the progressive phenom at his creative best, releasing collaborative projects alongside fellow genre stars Cid Inc and Navar, while continuing to build his own Proportion Records imprint. Now, as we approach 2023’s summer season, Dmitry returns to Deepwibe Underground for a two-track showcase entitled ‘Flaws’.

I’m not sure I ever remember Dmitry doing a full vocal track but he has here with the lead selection ‘Flaws’ and it’s turned out beautifully. Punchy beats and a full, rolling groove set the foundation for sweeping melodies and an emotive vocal, the latter of which gets used just enough to make it feel like a full vocal track but not too much where you wish it there was less of it. The main break in particular does this very well, as it focuses primarily on the main melodic themes, while the vocal is ultimately used a bridge into the a well crafted drop and then an uplifting vocal-infused finale.

The companion piece ‘Secret’ continues the groovy lean of the release and lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Smooth and effortless throughout, it’s a foundation of warm pulsating beats and chunky bass stabs which set the course for catchy chord stabs, effervescent effects and panoramic synths to captivate leading into the break. Rather than creating a typical ‘breakdown moment’, Dmitry uses tasteful modulation in a classy and concise manner to elevate tension across the brief interlude, a production choice which should prove effective at keeping the dancefloors undivided attention, while also maintaining that groovy energy which flows into a buoyant finale. It rounds out what proves to be one of Dmitry’s more interesting releases of late, one where you get to hear something a bit different from the veteran artist, all while still keeping in that cool progressive style for which he has become so beloved. The second track, 'Polonium', takes inspiration from the highly dangerous and lethal chemical element, which connects with the feeling of wanting to escape from something that harms us. D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-Music rounds out the month of July by welcoming Soulmade back to the label for his first artist EP. Based in Rosario, Nahuel V aka Soulmade has gained considerable momentum since adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. A well-received debut via Just Movement would lead to standout projects for Deepwibe Underground, Droid9, Strangers Beats, Univack and more, across the next three calendar years. Having made his SLC-Music debut last year with a contribution to the label's SIX: Stage-14 collection, Soulmade now makes a welcome return with 'Sub-Zero', alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Federico Flores. 

Lead track 'Scorpion' finds Soulmade operating at the peak of his creative powers, as he lets squelchy stabs and astral sonics descend over thunderous grooves and rolling percussion. Bringing even greater tension across the break, it's a wall of trippy effects and distorted harmonics which ultimately set the stage for a timely crescendo and epic finale. Meanwhile, title track 'Sub-Zero' goes for a deep and heady approach, as ravey chord stabs and panning effects steal air, while a chunky, swing-heavy groove keeps the psychedelic storyboard firmly on the dancefloor. 

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Scorpion' is Fabri Lopez who is best known for his releases via Hoomidaas, Mango Alley and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Always an excellent remixer, Fabri brings more of a groove-centric vibe to 'Scorpion'. With an emphasis on rhythm and melody, the Argentine crafts a version which sits in a deeper cosmic space and should fare well on the morning dancefloors out there. The release concludes with Federico Flores returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Sub-Zero'. Fresh off the February release of his 'Big Bang' EP, the La Rioja resident rounds out the release in style, with a smooth hypnotic rendition which makes great use of panoramic motifs and evolving effects to create an intoxicating dance floor moment.

The latest release from Clubsonica Records finds Golan Zocher returning to the label for a new single. Born in Colombia but now calling Israel home, Golan Zocher has firmly etched his place in progressive house lore. Following a 2016 debut, the Tel Aviv resident quickly found his place amongst the genre's elite, earning play and support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Guy Mantzur. Releases via Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Plattenbank and Proton highlight what has been an eight-year creative swell for this elusive talent. Clubsonica has also been a regular landing spot for Golan, with three originals and two remixes recorded since making his label debut in 2017. Now, following a contribution to the label's Sampler, Vol.3 earlier this year, Golan returns to the Clubsonica with 'Alive', alongside remixes from Will DeKeizer and Dabeat.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation of 'Alive' is Will DeKeizer. Hailing from the USA, Will DeKeizer first emerged in 2021 with the success of 'Karma'. Released via onedotsixtwo and played by Nick Warren, it set the course for what has been a remarkable two-year stretch. Armed with a sound that incorporates dark, hypnotic and melodic elements, Will would go on to showcase his music via Deepwibe Underground, Plattenbank and Sudbeat, while earning the support of genre tastemakers Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Hernan Cattaneo. Now, on the strength of a three-track showcase for Suza records, Will makes his Clubsonica debut with a cosmic take on 'Alive'. Dark rebounding rhythms and warm key changing basslines set the course for snatches of fluttery effects and bright percussive clusters. A gorgeous contrast from the American artist and one which is explored further across an astral break. A haze of trailing effects dominates the cavernous interlude, building tension with each successive pass, before Will's progressive attitude reveals itself during a commanding drop and groove-centric finale.

Juicebox Music's 66th release sees Chaum & Hobin Rude making their debut appearance on the imprint by teaming up for a 2-track EP featuring "Cressida" & "Mesec". Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Nicolas Viana to the label for his debut EP. Based in Tucuman, the Argentinean artist first emerged two years ago and has enjoyed a meteoric ascent in the world of progressive and organic house. On the strength of a contribution to One Of A Kind’s ‘Melody Masters Exclusive’ collection, Nicolas would go on to record projects for Amulanga, Flug Lab, Nordic Voyage, Peace Symphonies and more. Also finding a home on label affiliate Strangers Beats, Nicolas now makes his debut on parent imprint Or Two Strangers with ‘Ballad Attack’.

As the fiery rhythms and exotic percussion of opener ‘Ballad Attack’ unfold, it’s clear that Nicolas’ craft is continuing to evolve. Geared towards a peak time dance floor, the Argentine’s muscular grooves, quirky lead and ultrasonic effects unite in a colourful marriage, ultimately leading to a captivating break. Bubbly arps and sweeping effects take centrestage across the interlude, before phasing sonics emerge from the marine architecture, onwards to a thrilling finale.

Beneath the powerful waves of ‘Ballad Attack’ lies the equally epic sounds of ‘Come Closer’. Presenting a confident club energy from the start, Nicolas’ recalibrated sonics, metallic hooks and deconstructed vocals blanket a crunchy percussive framework. With an infectious energy that could win over even the most discerning of heads, Viana pulls from his expansive repertoire across the main break, infusing wavy arps with striking stabs as the beats drop for the ultimate dancefloor rush.

The release concludes with the hypnotic sounds of ‘Deserted Land’. Here Nicolas continues to showcase the progressive side of his studio repertoire with a hopeful blend of exotic drums, granular stabs and uplifting top-lines that are nicely suited to the morning hours. It rounds out three impressive creations from Nicolas, which not only make for a huge Or Two Strangers debut, but should see considerable play time across the remainder of 2023. Highly recommended.

Entering the heart of the summer season, Clubsonica Records celebrates their milestone one hundredth release by welcoming Kamilo Sanclemente back to the label for a new EP. With a near decade long history, Juan Pablo Torrez's Clubsonica Records has risen to the top of the progressive house landscape. Now considered one of the genre's elite imprints, Clubsonica has been a home for Alex O'Rion, Analog Jungs, Antrim, Dmitry Molosh, D-Nox, GMJ, Jamie Stevens, Mass Digital, Navar, Stereo Underground, Shai T, Weird Sounding Dude and more. Perhaps having the most impact on the label's meteoric rise however has been beloved Colombian producer Kamilo Sanclemente. Long regarded as one of his country's premiere progressive house artists, the Cali resident has notched a litany of successes over the last decade. Prolific and consistent in equal measure, Kamilo has earned the praise of electronic tastemakers Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music via All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, The Soundgarden, Replug and more. Affiliated with Clubsonica for some time, Kamilo has operated as one of the label's A&Rs, while also recording eight originals and six remixes since making his label debut in 2015. Now, for the label's milestone one hundredth release, it seems only appropriate that Kamilo returns to his comfortable home of Clubsonica to commemorate the occasion with a three-track showcase entitled 'Stellar Echoes'.

Selection one finds Kamilo collaborating with Clubsonica label boss and occasional studio partner Juan Pablo Torrez. Together the pair have crafted some of progressive music's most memorable tracks and now combine their extensive forces once again on 'Critical Orbit'. Sitting on a modern progressive perch, it's a marriage of tight manicured beats, swing heavy rhythms, and finely tuned percussion which set the course for otherworldly voices and elastic-like synths to work their magic. Anthemic and energetic in equal measure, the duo lets the listener relish in the groove, as it tastefully cruises across the first movement, before a melodic break elevates mood for an invigorating finale.

The title selection 'Stellar Echoes' finds Kamilo operating in solo captivity as he further cements the EP's dancefloor minded ethos. Its dynamic drive is anchored by rocketing beats and percussive flashes, tastefully building to a wild-eyed intensity of prismatic melodies and marine-like designs. Continuing to push an emotive narrative, it is 'Moving Thoughts' which rounds out the release in fine style. Here, Kamilo's meticulous design and dreamlike elegance conjure up utopian visions, as operatic voices and wavy melodies layer a bed of pulsating beats and swaying percussion. A spoken word vocal highlights the main break, bringing with it mystery and intrigue, further revealing Kamilo's creative attitude, before a finale of uplifting sonics breaks into a rich textural rain of melodic colour. D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music hits the heart of the summer season by welcoming Dr Green back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Daniel Claessen aka Dr Green has been one of SLC-6's core artists since making his debut last year. Noted for his groovy and percussive progressive sound, the Mirissa resident has recorded four originals and a remix for the label, with his most recent offering being the well-received Moodfreak collaboration 'EsQadar'. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings and Balkan Connection's BC2, Dr Green now makes a welcome return to SLC-6 with 'Raksasa', alongside remixes from KAZKO and Dhany G and Ryan (CU). 

The Original Mix lands in typically impressive Dr Green fashion, as the Sri Lankan layers exotic drum arrangements and nature-centric motifs over swing heavy rhythms and pulsating grooves. Charming musicality shapes the main break, bringing with it otherworldly vibes and a sense of anticipation which resolves as the percussive framework drops for a groovy finale. Meanwhile, Dr Green's 'Sunrise' mix offers a retro approach with acidic rhythms and dulcet chord stabs adding greater rhythmic flair. Returning to the label for the first remix of 'Raksasa' is KAZKO who comes off successful releases for Songuara and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. As one of Sri Lanka's rising talents KAZKO leans on his progressive repertoire here with a funkier approach. Reshaped basslines and haunting vocal pads complement the primary themes beautifully, for what should be surefire dance floor magic. Rounding out the release with the second and final remix are Dhany G and Ryan (CU). Hailing from Cuba, these occasional studio partners ended 2022 with a gorgeous single for Balkan Connection, and now reunite for a sensational remix of 'Raksasa'. Opting for a housier approach to their progressive style, the duo add a healthy dose of atmosphere and swing to their version, all coming to fruition during a melodic break and uplifting finale which should fare well in the morning hours.

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of September by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for a new EP. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben Karapetyan has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. Following a ten-year hiatus, Ruben returned in 2020 to a rousing response via releases courtesy of Movement Recordings. On the strength of his first two singles for the label 'Gignesthai' and 'Hathor', Ruben quickly emerged as a hyped talent in the trend-driven state of progressive house. Releases via Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Univack and more would soon follow, further establishing Ruben as a top tier talent and in demand remixer. Now, following a contribution to The Soundgarden's 'Summer Collection', Ruben returns to his initial home of Movement Recordings with 'Live In The Moment', alongside remixes from Michael Hooker and Dowden.

Destined to be a highlight in Ruben's discography, 'Live In The Moment' lands in impressive fashion and once again shows his craft must be taken to heart. Perfectly sculpted grooves and billowing stabs start the journey on a darker monochrome, before hopeful vocal fragments and emerging atmospheres shift the tone into one of optimism. Ruben's confident club energy continues to grow leading into the break, as emerging melodies reveal a glowing interlude where a dreamlike elegance takes shape. Timely vocals swell and intensify across the poignant centrepiece, elegantly peaking against a backdrop of wailing synths and clustered drums, before getting washed away as one final rush unleashes a groove-centric finale. The companion piece 'Mindful Harmony' follows in equally impressive fashion with galloping beats and grooves setting the course for dubbed out tones and lively percussive arrangements. Orbiting effects add depth and space leading into the break, where deconstructed vocals and creamy melodies create an air of anticipation and emotion, onwards to a thumping conclusion.

Following on from the success of their inaugural release, Constellation Music unveils new remixes of Analog Jungs 'Futura / Constellation'. Made up of Argentinean artists Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte, Analog Jungs have been revered figures in the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade, earning the praise of the genre's tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The duo's colourful, club friendly sound flourished as a result, finding a home on some of the genre's trendsetting imprints, such as Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden. 2023 has seen Analog Jungs continue their ascent with the launch of their Constellation Music imprint, unveiling the label's first offering 'Futura / Constellation' in May. Received amidst much praise, the label now invites EANP, Dowden and EMPHI to re-imagine the track in their own essence. 

First up are EANP who make their debut on the label following standout projects for 3rd Avenue, Mango Alley and Meanwhile. The Argentinean duo masterfully synthesize their talents into one single progressive minded vision, taking 'Futura' straight to a main room dancefloor. Tough vibrant beats and a thunderous groove lay the foundation for an array of orbiting effects and deconstructed vocals to create a darker monochrome across the track's first act. The main break sits at the emotional core of the journey, and although brief, its glowing cinematic style ambience is the perfect curveball to not only deliver a magic moment to the dancefloor, but also a perfect segue into an effects-laden finale. 

Also crafting a stellar rendition of 'Futura' is Dowden who debuts on the label fresh off excellent remixes for Dreaming Awake, Mango Alley and Movement Recordings. The Canadian born, Berlin-based artist adds more muscle and melody, with dark rebounding rhythms and fluttery sonics setting the course for a gorgeous musical breakdown, one where contrast and colour find a perfect balance, before getting engulfed in a vortex of granular textures for a commanding drop and groove-centric finale. 

The release concludes with EMPHI providing the lone interpretation of 'Constellation'. Now over three years on since first emerging with a release via Yotto's Odd One Out, Swedish artist EMPHI has continued to build an impressive resume. Releases via Deepwibe Underground, Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley and WARPP all landed with resounding success, firmly establishing the Stockholm resident as one of progressive music’s top talents. Now adding Constellation Music to his resume, EMPHI dials in a club effective version of 'Constellation' to close out the release. Taking inspiration from the original, EMPHI remodels the track into an electrifying slice of progressive house. Complete with a commanding groove, billowing stabs, hazy refrains and a forest of prophetic effects, it's an energy-rush for the ages - one which caps off a huge remix edition for Analog Jungs 'Futura / Constellation ' in fine style. Highly recommended.

Onestar Records opens the fall season by welcoming Mahts to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Argentina, Mahts first emerged in 2021 with a string of releases for AH Digital, Ardigital and Elastic Dimension. Noted for his nostalgic progressive sound, the Mar Del Plata resident would continue to refine his productions across the next two calendar years, and in turn find a home on Sounds and Frequencies Recordings, where the majority of his recent output has been featured. Now, adding Onestar Records to his resume, Mahts debuts on the label with 'Eleven', alongside a remix from Emiliano Ferrareso.

Beginning with the Original Mix, Mahts crafts a classically styled progressive cut that should find favour with a broad range of DJs. Warm punchy beats and a chugging groove set the foundation for a narrative of melodic fragments, orbiting effects and lively percussive arrangements. Pushing an uplifting mood into the break; the Argentine marries percolating arps with colourful synth phrasing, building emotion and tension with each successive pass, before eventually giving way to a thumping drop and smooth meditative finale.

The release concludes with Emiliano Ferrareso making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Eleven'. Also hailing from Argentina, Emiliano first came to our attention in 2021 with an EP for Superordinate Music. The two-track showcase would set the course for the Mar de Ajó resident to record impressive projects for 3rd Avenue, AH Digital, Balkan Connection's BC2 and Univack; in turn making him a name to watch in the progressive house community. Continuing on that upwards trajectory, Emiliano now makes his Onestar debut with a groovy take on 'Eleven'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Argentinean artist crafts a version aimed squarely at the dancefloor, one where smooth rhythmic themes, meandering synths and flashing percussive arrangements carve a path into a glowing breakdown. Coming to full fruition across the interlude, it's a college of texture, effects and percussive delays which serves to elevate mood onwards to a supremely groovy conclusion. A stellar interpretation from Emiliano, which rounds out excellent Onestar debuts for himself and Mahts. Highly recommended.

Further diversifying their portfolio, Luciano and Martin craft an uplifting progressive groover that both new and old fans of the genre will appreciate. Aimed squarely at the dancefloor, the duo's smooth chugging basslines, hopeful pads and emotive melodies unite in a colourful marriage, ultimately leading to a captivating break. Percolating rhythms, tasteful overlays and sweeping effects take centrestage across the interlude, before warm beats emerge from their progressive architecture, pushing onwards to a thrilling finale. 

As one of India's rising musical mavericks, Weird Sounding Dude has emerged from his country's electronic landscape as a premiere progressive house talent. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc, the Bangalore resident often touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling the divide between intergalactic design and groove-centric hypnotism. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music. Now, making his SLC-6 Music debut, Weird Sounding Dude puts his inimitable production touch on 'Midnight Mirage'. Warm basslines and rebounding rhythms set the course for snatches of metallic arps, siren-like sonics and bright percussive arrays. A gorgeous contrast from the Indian artist, and one which is explored further across a cosmically correct break. Turkish duo AVAM again at Polyptych. Roger Martinez’s new Higher States imprint launches this week with three stunning tracks from the man himself. With a career now spanning well over a decade, the Dutch artist’s transcendent style has long been a favourite of the world’s top DJs, landing him releases on some of progressive music’s most esteemed imprints in Lost & Found, Replug and Sudbeat. Now starting a new journey, Roger presents the inaugural release on Higher States.

Having spent the first month of 2019 touring Australia the ethos of this collection draws on inspiration from Roger’s experiences there. Beginning with ‘Dreamtime’ we get a free flowing journey of redolent rhythms and effervescent electronics. It’s near ten minute running time is fluid throughout, showcasing delicate motifs and organic designs. Mystical yet emotive, these aesthetics are backed by a warm, pulsating groove, underpinning the track and translating it’s spiritual message to the dance floor. Meanwhile, the collection’s second selection ‘Songlines’ comes across a bit deeper with a more spacious groove sitting at the foundation. Smooth and dynamic, Roger’s attention to detail is once again at a premium, with evocative themes building subtly into a glowing main break that ultimately sits at emotional core of the EP. Rounding out the release is the quirkier ‘Billabong’ which once again showcases Roger’s nomadic style. Quite fresh and rhythmically buoyant, it’s also esoteric in mood and delivery, thus a fitting end to a spiritually uplifting collection from Roger. It rounds out what is a stunning debut for Higher States, with Roger crafting some of his most inspired productions to date here. Highly recommended.

Beatfreak Recordings ushers in the Spring club season with a much anticipated EP from label boss D-Formation. The Spanish artist has enjoyed a tremendous start to 2019 with his well received ‘Closer’ single sitting as the highlight. Also coming courtesy of Beatfreak, it achieved resounding success, earning a place in Beatport’s ‘Exclusives Only’ and ‘Best New Progressive House’ selections, while also reaching #9 in the genre’s highly competitive sales chart. Now returning to his comfortable home of Beatfreak, D-Formation presents his latest and highly sought after EP entitled ‘Dope’.

Beginning with the groovy, cutting edge sounds of the title cut it’s clear D-Formation has crafted some of his most heady work to date. Fresh and dramatic across the eight minute journey, it’s a sensory delight full of redolent rhythms and tranquil lines. Deep yet electric, mounds of bass undulate while spacey arps and buzzing electronics add a cosmic vibe. Building subtly, the beauty lies in the break, classy in execution and undeniably poignant, with waning tones and euphoric chord changes shifting energy into a smooth but powerful drop, no doubt set for a massive reaction on the dance floor.

The companion piece ‘Sian’ finds D-Formation flexing the more techno inspired side of his studio repertoire. Sitting as a perfect complement to the deeper ‘Dope’, it’s punchy beats, rippling grooves and crunchy rhythms create a free flowing foundation. Astral qualities come in the form of sonic artefacts and ethereal hooks, intertwining to dramatic effect as swirling atmospheres continue to build mood and tension as the main break commences. Not without emotive moments, the centrepiece furthers the grandiose appeal, as warm overlays and pensive pads unite in a one minute stretch of sonic bliss, perfectly segueing into a tasteful finale. It rounds out a superb EP for D-Formation, setting up what promises be an incredible summer season for the Beatfreak boss. Highly recommended.

The much anticipated debut release from Immersed finds label A&R Gambitt presenting a new single alongside remixes from Antrim and Analog Jungs. Based in New York, Immersed has the unique distinction of being one of the very few progressive house imprints located within the United States. Being from Canada myself I think this is a great thing as it’s something the American scene is sorely lacking. They make a huge first impression here pairing two of progressive music’s finest talents to remix Gambitt’s excellent ‘Clouded’ single.

David Saffran aka Gambitt will be a new name for progressive music fans but ‘Clouded’ is sure to put him on the top of everyone’s hotly tipped new talents list. Born and raised in Asheville, N.C. before eventually attending music production school at Tin Pan Alley Studios, in New York City, David is not only well versed in the art of electronic music production but is also classically trained as a pianist and singer. ‘Clouded’ puts those production chops on display quite nicely, resulting in a seven minute journey of perfectly contoured grooves and strong emotive themes. Astral arps and finely tuned percussion sit in a cavernous break, saturating your senses with a collage of cosmic colours before a stripped back drop delivers a warm rush of classic chord changes. Lovely work from Gambitt who has more than staked his claim as a name to watch moving forward.

The first interpretation of ‘Clouded’ is provided by one of progressive music’s brightest stars in Antrim. The Argentinean producer has grown into one of the underground’s most beloved artists. A perpetual favourite of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, Antrim finds himself as one of his country’s premiere electronic music talents. Equally adept at crafting contemporary progressive and deep, dreamy house, the Cordoba resident lays claim to releases on Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Sudbeat Music and his own Or Two Strangers imprint. Always a consummate remixer Antrim now lands on Immersed with a smooth interpretation of ‘Clouded’, complementing the original mix beautifully. The warmth and drive from the original is well conveyed, while the main theme has been reprocessed into a slightly less distinct yet equally emotive trail of harmonic energy. The main break advances the narrative further through unique sonic artefacts and a timely build which ushers in a purring finale.

The release concludes with Analog Jungs providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Clouded’. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean duo have been one of the progressive scenes most inspiring acts over the last year. Support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren along with releases on Hope Recordings, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden have all been sensational. Now debuting on Immersed Analog Jungs round the release out with a stunning rendition of ‘Clouded’. Rippling bass and spacious atmospheric concepts dominate the first act before ghostly refrains initiate the main break. Dynamic and emotive in equal measure, the interlude is a feast for the senses, as it ebbs and flows through mallet-like clusters and wispy effects, before a rush of drums results in a euphoric drop. It caps off an auspicious beginning for Immersed, one that holds much promise and by years end perhaps one of 2019’s best new progressive house imprints. Highly recommended.

Sound Avenue begins the new year by showcasing new interpretations of Madloch and Subnode's 'Lion's Mane'. Originally landing in March of last year it marked the Belgian imprints 100th release. Backed by remixes from Navar and Bookwood, the project earned praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. It continued what has been a creative partnership between the Belgian artists, ultimately leading to new studio experiments due out later this year. Sound Avenue now re-visits the duo's 'Lion's Mane', by inviting Dmitry Molosh and B.A.X. to re-interpret the track for 2020.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Lion's Mane' is Dmitry Molosh. The Belarus based artist continued to dominate the progressive music landscape in 2019, showcasing his music on Beatfreak Recordings, Beat Boutique, Replug and Sudbeat Music. Now getting the new year underway in fine fashion Dmitry delivers a powerful rendition of 'Lion's Mane'. Always a creative remixer, the Belarus native deconstructs the main elements into something decidedly more progressive minded, for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, punchy foundation comes buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. It's a remarkable sonic marriage, one which makes for a hugely energetic journey, elegantly peaking through an emotive break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this chugging gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Lion's Mane' is B.A.X. The Vietnamese artist has found a home on Sound Avenue subsidiary 3rd Avenue where he has appeared three times. Also laying claim to releases on Droid9, fryhide and MNL, B.A.X. now makes his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous take on 'Lion's Mane'. Timeless and haunting in equal measure, it's unique beat pattern, ghostly wails and melodic fragments make for a compelling intro. It's free flowing narrative builds on a more esoteric slant as impassioned pads and scintillating arps converge as the break commences. Tasteful pianos and icy overlays make for an emotive interlude, resonating on a profound level and perfectly transferring energy into a glowing finale. A stunning remix from B.A.X., rounding out a superb remix edition for Madloch, Subnode and Sound Avenue to begin the new year.
