Ambient Agora

The latest in my explorations into free improvisation, "illusory" is an impressionistic piece put together with soft trailing interwoven melodies, bright tones and an immersive atmosphere.

My approach throughout the making of this track was to try and create a soundscape that's reminiscent of being stuck in a daydream accompanied by strange & colourful sounds.

Sunday's Child is named after the composer; born on October 3rd 1993.

An upbeat theme for an imaginary movie character. Sunday’s Child can
overcome the most difficult obstacle.
They’re strong and brave, inspiring & friendly. Loving and energetic.

The early stages of this track were written when my digital Yamaha synthesizer wasn’t plugged in properly. It sounded scratchy, unique and perfect.
Almost like a field recording on a bed of stones.
Next came the synth loops and the drum parts. Background synthesizers create a pulsing ambient characteristic.

Episode XII looks at the song Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye, exploring it's origins as well as musical precursors dating back to an English country dance published in 1651 and forward in time to Metallica's 1988 breakthrough single One. Also featured is the second installment of Lomax Does Ireland, as well as two widely differing versions of Scottish tune, The Flowers of Edinburgh.

This song is meant to serve as a relaxing "lullaby" for the pain, it's about how music really can help you relax even when you are in pain. The whole album serves as a collection of "lullabies" for helping people with relaxing but especially this one. Even though it has a dark and sad tone to it, it's meant as a way to help you relax and calm down during those dark times.
