Als wir die Trommeln vom verspielt funkelnden Sumpf hörten, folgten wir den unfüglichen Frequenzen und hingen uns an Lianen entlang zu einem versteckten Ort der Sumpfkrüge. Verschlungen von der Magie die dort herrschte, spielten wir unser erstes Set zwischen hochrankendem Kunstefeu und einer, über uns schwirrenden Libelle.
Unser musikalischer Ausflug in die Sümpfe startete sanft, wie eine unverhoffte Umarmung einer Waldelfe. Die Reise nahm weiter Fahrt auf, die Beats wurden treibender und obwohl wir uns im schlammigen Gebiet wiederfanden, tippelten unsere Füße feucht fröhlich und unsere Körper schwangen durch die rumpelnden Schallwellen nur so vor sich hin.

Die Entscheidung, genau darüber im Nachtmwaahsyl zu zu taktsimpeln lässt unsere Tentakel noch heute gribbeln. Wir sagen mwaahdusamäßig Danke an @tischdisko. Q: From the present to the past - what a great storyteller. Tell us about 
your mix!

A: Puuuh, what a task! For this I had to dig deep into what brought me to 
electronic music or even DJing. It´s super hard to choose between all the 
different influences I had, but I tried to start at a point where everything 
changed for me taking it back step by step to the beginning. That´s why I´ve 
chosen to do this mix in reverse chronological order. To be honest I had to 
jump a little bit in between, but these jumps also have to do with when I 
was introduced to that kind of music or the song was important for me, or it 
simply fits better. You will hear a lot of hits that have been essential to 
me and others at a certain time and maybe some stuff you´ve never heard 
before. Have fun! I didn´t take myself too serious when I did this (laughs).

This Saturday, September 29, we present The Brooklyn Mirage 2018 closing event, The Cityfox Experience: Transcend, a three-stage festival with 8 live acts and 10 DJs, friends and favorites both old and new, playing the highest of quality house and techno (bit.ly/Cityfox929).

The Romanian born, Berlin-based, Sandrino has crafted this delightful Foxcast as we countdown.

Driven by his passion for house music in all forms, Sandrino is most drawn to its deeper and melodic slants. In 2010, he met and formed a self-named duo with Frankey, producing tracks that landed on Innervisions and Kompakt, before they launched their own imprint, Sum Over Histories. He first played for Cityfox in 2016, immediately becoming a favorite, and gracing our decks each year since.

In this Foxcast, Sandrino adeptly builds the energy towards the finale (no pun intended), kicking off the mix with spacey, almost ambient atmospheres and subdued percussions but steadily working its way up. The subtle but consistent rhythms and synths intertwine, until we eventually wonder when the journey ensnared to a trancelike state of introspection. Melodies pair with thick harmonies giving way to raw, stripped-down dance floor-centric tracks, peaking in the latter half with a surge of energy, beautifully demonstrating Sandrino’s range in a mere 60 minutes, before closing out with a splash of electropop - the things dreams are made of.
