When Will It Snow?

Madmotormiquel... First things first: Try pronouncing that. Or maybe don't – it's all about the music after all. Born and raised in West Berlin, Michel Neigenfnd – what his parents named him – had only music and collecting records on his mind from an early age. Influenced by British '77 punk- rock and US punk from the late 80s, he soon realised musical boundaries were nothing for him. His equally large passion for hip-hop paved the way to his first electronic productions. Big beat, drum n‘ bass, acid techno, early spiral tribe stuff... His first fusion festival in early 2000 as well as many illegal open airs and parties in a Berlin filled with open spaces after the fall of the wall, made clear the path he would take.  Up until then a party DJ with diverse genres, his passion for techno/house music steadily grew. Through own events with Bachstelzen, a collective of organisers that has greatly influenced Berlin‘s party scene with its events in elaborately themed off-locations, the course was set for frequent techno/house DJ gigs.

One of the co-founders of URSL Records, we are thrilled to have Madmotormiquel grace us with his presence for the very special 25th Edition of the Bespoke Musik Radio show... we think you'll enjoy this brilliant mix. <3

For the label's fourth release the Aula Magna team welcomes our first international guest, UK's rising sound architect Tomas Rubeck. With Inster EP the artist presents carefully crafted dub techno cuts and for remix duty we invited Sweden's Mattias Fridell to cast his techno spark to the package. 

It's clear that Rubeck's sound and groove palette is born from producer whose artistry has taken a major leap forward. Richly textured soundscapes define Inster 01 and Inster 02 on the A side, deep and warm tracks that hypnotize on steady but pushing beats. An inspiring experimental attitude gives shape to the aforementioned and the rest of the record: B side's Inster 03 rests on a more broken-beat focus and the digital exclusive Inster 04 shifts back to the dancefloor. In between, Fridell's cleverly designed rework of 03 boosts Rubeck's sounds into peak-time mayhem. 

A futuristic odyssey through unexplored acoustic dimensions awaits the listener.
