Shreds of prophetic lyrics echo and flash, stoking anticipation, breaking into dazzled trance-like moments. Nick Scofield continues to craft a sound of his own. Centered around a backbone of sturdy grooves, he explores realms of melodies both retro and futuristic. With a pair of appearances on our Tales of Romance series, as well as the timeless Highway 1 EP gracing TOR last year, Scofield has built a hearty foundation in the early stages of his journey. As we venture into the new year, we are thrilled to have Scofield back on board for his second full project on the imprint - the Foggy Night EP.

The project’s namesake opens the show in scintillating fashion. Drenched in percussive persistence, rhythmic rotations instantly frame the groove on Foggy Night. Eastern strings provide a lush melody, while ominous synthetics elevate energy throughout this heady cut from Scofield.

Zagroutah keeps the organic rhythms flowing, while a classic house groove nudges us towards the light. Afro-tinged influences come to the fore from the early stages, while an electro-synth hook surprises the senses. A delightful flute performance is the cherry on top of this one, which cohesively checks all the boxes; a tune for the true groovers.

Closing out this sumptuous trio is Opulence. Low-slung drums get the vibe rolling, as Nick harnesses deviant deep tones through punchy synth stabs and a tripped-out vocal chop. Look no further, this EP succinctly summarizes the Scofield sound.
