P. Lopez’s new EP may be called ‘The Same Beat’. However, rest assured that this is most definitely a showcase of the Paraguayan urban and tech house producer’s chameleonic capabilities. We’ve seen Lopez on labels such as Dogmatik, Tirk and Rationalism just to name a few, and he’s even grabbed the attention of Berghain who welcome him for his debut performance there in April. Now he stamps his sonic dexterity all over this dark techno AEON EP which includes a Beatport Exclusive.  Expect to be led through a progression of styles and emotions, fist pumps and foot taps all in the name of true quality music.  
The title track doesn’t patronise you with a soft introduction.  ‘The Same Beat’ chucks you unmercifully into dark decadent techno territory. A growling vocal requests ‘the same beat’ as the track continuously builds.
With ‘That’s It’, Lopez is joined by Matias Espinola. An infectious off-beat drum pattern is joined by a dubby vibe that dances all the way through before a cleverly used vocal sample brings this track to an understated yet satisfying climax. 
In ‘1000’, Lopez interweaves a dark sexy bassline with clangs of chords and echoed claps before adding ethereal strings. He layers each sound with deft skill in this gorgeous composition, progressing from dark to light in just under eight minutes.
House Robot is the cooler older brother on this EP with the final track a Beatport Exclusive Dub remix. These tracks display a blend of techno-meets-urban that Lopez conquers so well.
‘The Same Beat EP’ showcases a stellar collection of cuts that complement each other when played in its entirety, but you can be sure they more than hold their own as dancefloor bombs.

Clint Eastwood was Gorillaz' first proper single. A huge smash initially in the UK, where it remained in the charts for months and the top 10 for weeks. At around the same time radio in Europe also went mad for the song. Slightly later in 2001 the song would also become a massive radio hit in the US and central and South America. Bigger than his previous smash, Song 2 (with Blur), this song remains Damon Albarn's biggest hit. In the UK the Ed Case Refix (available on all formats) actually got far more airplay than the A-side, probably resulting in the inclusion of said remix on the debut LP. B-side Dracula was probably the best of the off cuts from the 'Gorillaz' sessions, and tour rap group Phi Life Cypher also contributed a version.

Poker Flat Classics continues its highly promising series with a huge pair of reworks of a seminal Poker Flat track. 

Martin Landsky’s '1000 miles' –originally released in 2006, rightfully takes the stage in the second instalment – receiving blistering remixes from two true masters. 

Laurent Garnier’s incredible career barely needs commenting on; suffice to say he brings his trademark, tough and epic sound to the forefront here. Pushing '1000 miles' into yet more mind-bending shapes, the Frenchman injects the original with a new sense of urgency. Welding a fractured synth melody around Landsky’s big room hook, the results are a pure techno moment – sure to cause a stampede to the booth at most discerning clubs. 

Holland’s Gerd, responsible for some recent incendiary dancefloor burners of his own, also drops another bomb here. Under his Geeeman persona, Gerd, twists '1000 miles' into a trippy, euphoric monster – a late night house detonation for the heads and a fitting tribute to Landsky’s modern classic.

The digital release features another three tracks, which include Landsky's original versions of '1000 miles' and its re-interpretation '2000 miles', as well as the stunning Loco Dice remix of '1000 miles'.

Straight out of Romania, Mihai Popoviciu has established him self as a producer and DJ of high repute in the past few years. His releases on labels such as Highgrade, Fear of Flying and Hudd Traxx have raised the bar pretty high when it comes to his own distinctive take of the tech-house sound du jour, but it’s this latest outing on Poker Flat Recordings where sparks really start to fly. 

The four tracks on the Here EP share a similar aesthetic and sound design, yet each is as essential as the other. 

'Call Me' rides a dark and low slung groove, eventually unleashing a soulful, neo-prince vocal refrain amid the spacey, atmospheric synths.   

Title track 'Here' follows a similar dynamic, but with a more straight up focus – a fat, rolling house bomb for the floor.  

'Low' takes things a notch deeper, and a shade darker, showcasing Mihai’s passion for Detroit and the techier end of the spectrum. 

'Curbat' rounds off the release, maintaining a course for the funky sound Mihai is fast becoming a leading proponent of.

The debut release, ‘Just A Little’ sees Niggemann explore a chunky tech house aesthetic, precise analogue drum programming and gnarly melodies. Narrated by a late night House mantra and punctuated by full bodied synth work, ‘Just A Little’ is destined for the more discerning floors.

Bolstering the original are two well executed remixes from fellow scene stalwarts, Glimpse and Steve Bug. Poker Flat boss Bug’s mix adds a metallic shine and sleazy edge to proceedings, whilst Glimpse employs his trademark heavy set, stripped back grooves, coated in layers of gritty atmosphere and off-kilter processing.

A strong release that forms the foundations of what is set to become the go-to label for authentic House and Techno, Alex Niggemann showcases his production prowess alongside his A&R nous.
