Richard Vission is a Grammy nominated remixer / producer and rocks dance floors and festivals around the world when he performs live as a DJ. Ayanna Ray is an accomplished singer, songwriter, dancer, actor and mogul. She has performed in Africa, Japan, Dubai and extensively in the United States. Ayanna’s most recent credit includes writing the title track to Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Big Happy Family” and “Po Pimpin”, with Grammy Award Winner Harold Lilly, for artist Girlfriends, which appeared in the film “In The Mix”, starring Usher. Ayanna has also performed for Lil Wayne, Bow Wow, Jagged Edge and Latoya Luckett - indeed she is the “songstress" named Ayanna Ray.

Together with Ayanna Ray, Richard Vission has created a top of the line sure shot for the main rooms. The big and luscious production behind the composition gives the track an uplifting and positive feel, underlined by massive drum programming and spacious synth lines. Subtly weaving a web with a wee bit of electro house, "Wasted" will certainly rock the crowds.

Two of our scene's leading progressive breaks artists have come together on Particles to remix Sed's "Law of Physics"-- a dark, cinematic breaks track originally released on the "Future Able" debut EP from Dutch production duo Jean-Paul Grobben and Serge Dusault, featuring the vocals of Lisette van den Berg. 

A euphoric, downtempo remix is in from Aeron Aether, ! the director behind Silk's "Arrival" music label, an outright ! force in the Hungarian progressive scene having recently collaborated on vocal productions with Matt Darey and appeared on Solar Stone's Solaris. And watering our labels roots of love for progressive breaks comes the glitch & groove remix from Russia's Abdomen Burst -- it's no easy task turning downtempo into uptempo, but he pulled it off in style.

Edgewoode returns to Deceast for his second single on the label with two tracks of funked-out, 808-laden bass music. “Me x You” opens with sparse percussion and soft synth pads before the bass hits and a masterfully melodic lead takes over. Tastefully programmed 808 drums anchor the progression, with just enough hi-hat and snare workouts to fully represent Edgewoode’s hometown Atlanta influence.

“Ride or Die” brings a decidedly dirty south vibe with its razor-sharp horn stabs, booming 808 bass and skittering drums. Once again, Edgewoode’s music chops are on full display with another great, funky synth lead. This song easily fits in alongside a wide array of likeminded music: “Ride or Die” could be a lost instrumental from Outkast’s Aquemini sessions, a production by Dr Dre’s latest protege, or the
other half of a split single featuring Joker on the A side.

Both of these are well suited for the headphones, the club, and especially the ride. We hope you enjoy the music and can’t wait to share more from Edgewoode in 2013.

Edgewoode is a new music project from Anthony Rotella, a producer and DJ well-known for his longtime contributions to both drum & bass and dubstep under his Mayhem moniker. As one of the longest-running American bass music artists, Anthony has a long list of achievements as Mayhem. He’s released music on marquee labels like Ram Records and Human Imprint, played a crucial role in establishing forward-thinking music scenes in his native Atlanta and across the United States, and collaborated with highly respected artists like Noisia and Phace.

Anthony has established Edgewoode as an outlet for his music that isn’t defined by the aggressive, dancefloor-oriented mindset he’s known for as Mayhem. This is the second outing of his Edgewoode persona on Deceast and we’re looking forward to helping him diversify as an artist through this new project.

One of the UK’s freshest new drum & bass talents drops his debut solo single on Critical, this one is simple mammoth! Emperor has been making waves over the past couple of years moonlighting with various camps but it was the keen ear of label boss Kasra that cottoned on early drawing him deep into the Critical ranks. If this new single is anything to go by, one of the best decisions Critical could have made.
The cinematic intro of ‘Begin’ is beautiful blend of strings, reversed fx and the sultry vocals of Georgia Yates who featured on the Enei album last year. All build to a haunting dropout before the next stage, an absolute nasty tech-stepping future roll-out that’s been getting Fabric in sweat these last few months. Twisted, uplifting and wonderfully emotive, this is another slice of Critical magic.
Next up and we’re treated to the vintage double-bass grooves of ‘She Said’. Another huge epic intro featuring a soaring vocal drifting over ethereal pads features here as hi-end percussion leads into the fattest bassline for a properly funked up dance floor workout. Think Roni Size ‘Brown Paper Bag’ or Peshay’s ‘Miles From Home’ for 2013...bad to the bone!
