New face of French techno music, Axel Picodot represents a whole generation of self-taught producers who shaped their personnality within the underground world but outside the classical
codes. Passionate about electronic music since he received his first CDJs at age 16, he was influenced by 90's rave music which he transforms into modern compositions that would hit any challenging dancefloor.
Obsessed by fast rythms and heavy loops, Axel's music bears UK influences, industrial sounds and percussive imprints which shows his passion for overhelming and uncompromising techno. Having released music on ARTS, Grounded, Raven Sigh, Wrongnotes his productions are supported by Perc, Dax J and Keith Carnal what got him the acess to many clubs as a valuable producer besides Clouds, Gary Beck, Ansome or UVB. Now touring across Europe, he had remarkable stops at Depot Club in Amsterdam, at Rex Club Official Fan Page and Batofarin Paris or at The Steelyard in London where he's resident for the Distortion parties. Axel and his pal Nico Moreno have recently presented their newcomer label Blvckplvgue which has already impressed a massive industrial Various Artist compilation with tracks from Axel Picodot, Nico Moreno, Tim Tama, Hoffmax, North Toxic Influence.

Dalosso is back with another original EP, this man never lets us down, a true talent and a committed artist, every time he appears on Variant Electronic it's a time to rejoice, and here we are again, after the success of Data EP, and his track Mech 2.3 from our second various artists, it outshone some of the supposedly bigger artists, but at VE we dont believe in hype, though it still happens, its always about the music and the art. Anyway, to the EP, Dalasso has provided 3 unbelievable original tracks, the title track of the EP "Lets Populate Titan", some twisted acid with Broken, and some industrial mayhem with Deselector, to be fair there is an industrial vibe off all of his originals as per usual. Onto the remixes, first up we got label head Luke Creed with his remix of the title track "Lets Populate Titan", he opted for a slower BPM but it doesn't hold back just like the original, distorted mayhem from the get go. Secondly we have the first track on this label from Saint Cole, owner of Super Computer A.V record label, this man is no stranger to making really intricate techno numbers, and he didn't let us down here, it goes from an excellent four on the floor intro, with a sweet vocal overlaid, then it drops into some broken goodness, as the name suggests, then seamlessly dropping back into the four on the floor, the track continues along these lines, a really complex and intricate production, would suit many styles of sets. the last remix is from one of our main men this year Sin Ø, he provided one of the most diverse EP's this label has seen earlier this year, and this is far from his last submission to the label, he is a genuine artists artist, always massively creative and impressive, and this one is another one to behold, Industrial, Acid, Four on the Floor, Glitches, builds, Drops, its got it all. All in all this EP is incredible in our opinion, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed organising it.

Soma welcome a new artist to the label as Maltese based KONTAL debuts with What Lies Below. Having only begun the project at the tail end of 2017, Kontal steps up with four solid, dance floor ready tracks.

Broken Home kicks off with tough, jacked up drums hammering full pelt while disruptive synths set the tone. Trauma deliver yet more warped Techno with a pulsating synth hook building gradually throughout. Reflect brings out the more hypnotic and emotive side to Kontal as ethereal pads drift across more subtle percussive elements. Parallel closes Kontal’s debut Soma EP, keeping up the pace of previous tracks and creates a more dense and cerebral sound.

A well rounded and soundly produced EP, Kontal shows great depth of dance floor knowledge.

Andre Crom‘s home-base sits between Berlin and Barcelona, his label OFF Recordings once again comes up with the goods on Euphoria.

Brazilian Lucas Freire has been located in Barcelona for a number years, building up a reputation of excellence behind the decks. Using his self taught mixing skills, he is known to harness the floor vibe and gained huge respect for his dedication to the craft. His back catalogue of productions also include outings for labels such as Driving Forces, Different Is Different and Naked Lunch, as continues to make an impact.

Featured as the remixers on this package are two titans, firstly an artist known for hitting labels like Hotflush, Innervisions, and Mote Evolver, Oliver Deutschmann runs a multitude of imprints and is consistently influential in his work.

Supplying the second rework is the Belgian Tom Hades, who continues to play a part in OFF Recordings after his recent EP and appearances on a variety of labels like Sleaze, 1605 and Silent Steps.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the leading track “Euphoria” for its chunky, rolling flow, backed with a warm bassline, and quirky hook. The powerful rhythm is soon complemented with detuned metallic bells, innumerable claps pursuing a lush, energetic aura throughout.

For PDR015 we're joined by Glasgow's Sluhg. If the name is new to you then it won't be for long. 

Sluhg delivers 2 tracks of hard hitting and uncompromising techno with a third track being another slice of brutality from another Scot, Ben Techy. 

Kicking things off is Industry. As the name suggests this track screams industrial noise. It's relentless. Even when the kick drum stops it's only for a brie period before it hits you again. This track guarantees destruction. 

1 is a similar yet entirely different affair. It's more heady, more atmospheric but as equally nasty. Evolving pads and textures keep this track interesting, with something new being discovered on each listen. If there was a track designed for smoke filled warehouses at 4am this is it. 

Closing things off is Ben Techy, with his take on Industry. Like the original this is heavy. Broken kick patterns drive this on, creating a tense atmosphere. This track builds throughout and will do damage whenever it's played.
