Meeting in 2012 Keelie and Kush first worked together at the Àjôyõ Afrofusion Experience parties. During these events Keelie would sing live over Kush productions. After taking some time to develop more of a musical direction Kush was inspired to create Aether.M, which allowed both he, and Keelie to expand in a direction that influenced them both.

Keelie aka Nickeshia Garrick...has been performing since the tender age of six. She received her dance training at the National Ballet School of Canada, Toronto Dance Theatre and Carousel Dance Centre. Her classical vocal training was achieved as a vocal major at Eastwood Collegiate Institute. Nickeshia has had the honour of training with Bakari E. Lindsay, Arsenio Andrade, Rob Kitsos, Peter Bingham, Christopher House and Day Helesic, she additionally has received the privilege of performing in pieces by TDT, T.I.L.T Sound and Motion, Kaeja d’ Dance, Serge Bennathan, James Kudelka and COBA, just to mention a few. Nickeshia has performed the Canadian National Anthem at the Rogers Centre, has recently made her opera debut as a soloist in Obeah Opera, has made vocal appearances with the Vancouver-based reggae band MaCronix and the renowned Burning Spear and has been a recipient for the Kitchener/Waterloo Arts Award.

Going into her third season with COBA at 25, Nickeshia holds her BFA at Simon Fraser University with Honours, has recently joined the emerging music collective called Ajoyo as the lead singer/song writer, and has recently unearthed her concealed passion for the pedagogy of ballet/body conditioning.


Kush Nubia is a DJ | Producer | Engineer at Motosimba Music. In 1994 with Kush contributed to an urban compilation put out by Fuzz Records. On this project Kush recorded a spoken word piece and provided illustrations that were later animated and incorporated in the enhanced CD release. His Dub/Spoken word poetry was also recorded on two compilations from Cosmic Sofa Records: Voyages in 2004 and Perceptions in 2008 under the moniker Rasir.

Entering the world as a professional DJ in 2008, Kush has played at various locations in Toronto and has opened for the likes of Kahil El Zabar, Brownman, Whaleed Kush, Quartier Latin and Njacko Backo

In 2009, Kush created the Upendo Movement. Upendo—Raw & Psychedelic Afro Sounds was a musical movement that follows the paths of Afro-fusion rhythms and aimed to bridge communities through music. The Upendo stage has seen the likes of Telmary Diaz, Kaysha Lee, Ogguere, CityFolk, Crossword and Nicola Nyx Songbird to name a few.

In June 2011 Kush Launched Àjôyõ (TM). Àjôyõ (TM) Was an event focused on Afro Deep house, Afro Soulful House, Afro/Latin/Brazilian Break Beat, live percussion and dance
