I am pleased to welcome you all the first edition of my new mix series "Conference Calls." 

Conference Calls. will be an ongoing quarterly occurrence throughout the year (every 3 months), typically about 40-45 minutes in length, and may or may not have a theme to each collection.

This first edition does not have an initial theme but is here to begin the process and establish the series... a Mission Statement one might say. lol

This first edition though does in fact feature new material mostly from the upcoming 2 disc album, as well as a couple goodies that I know people have enjoyed me playing out at shows this past year and will probably appreciate being able to listen at their leisure.

Happy to present my submission on the PLF producer compilation album "Melancholia".  The theme was melancholy and I  had a blast picking the direction and samples for this track.  Honored to have this one out alongside so many dope artists both in the game and coming up.  Stoked to have my brotha Taylor Evans on guitar for the mix.

Under the Stars

Yoooo! The time has come! Sometime mid October 2022 I decided I wanted to embark in starting to create a mix I’ve had in mind for a while. After creating 4 full length, studio mixes in the last year (Halloween mix, griz mix, db mix, hypebeast mix), I felt like I’d finally fine tuned this craft enough to be able to confidently assemble my longest and most challenging mix to date. Pretty lights music! This mix turned out to challenge me more than I ever thought but I really learned more this time around than during any mix I’ve made and I can confidently say this is by far my biggest achievement in my musical journey and I’m so stoked to let the world listen! 

This mix consists of 39 pl tracks (+ a few other random tracks that fit the vibe), all stripped down to either an instrumental version, or it has the vocals isolated to mix and mash over the instrumental versions of your fav pl tunes. 

At almost a full hour, I’ve spent so much of my extra free time and effort in the last few months (80+ hours) curating what I can easily say is my best work to date.

Shuj Roswell is the latest musical creation of Denver's own, Mark A. Cooley. Releasing his debut album on Michal Menert's Super Best Records label in 2015, he carefully curates vinyl samples of 60's and 70's funk and soul as a foundation for his production. Fusing traditional sample based hip-hop techniques with warm analog synthesis and hard hitting beats, he sets the table for a sound within the Electro Soul movement he calls, Funk-tron-a-delic.

When playing out, Shuj Roswell Live takes the musical experience to the next level by bringing live instrumentation into the mix. Mark plays guitar and is accompanied on stage by drummer and good friend, Eric Imbrosciano. Eric comes from a hip-hop, funk, and jazz background originating from his early years gigging in and around the New York music scene. He injects a soulful vibe into the Shuj Roswell live sound from laid back hip-hop grooves to drum & bass breaks. Eric also performs in the jazz-fusion quartet, Space Orphan. You might have run into him as he hosts several open jams around the Denver area

In addition to his drummer Eric, Shuj Roswell Live consists of emcee, J. Shook, who’s recorded vocals on several Shuj Roswell tracks and a rotating who’s who on saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Mark recorded with and sampled his live band in the studio on the EP, Shuttlecock
