With humble beginnings in Diplo’s Philadelphia studio, Mad Decent’s unwavering mission is to highlight underground, genre-blurring sounds. Colt Chronic (born Alexander Colter) is a 18 year old upcoming rap artist coming out of Central IL. With a backing of refreshing, upbeat instrumentals combined with an early view into the music industry, he uses his knowledge and deep passion for creating music to craft something more intricate and thoughtful than most. Born and raised in Normal, Colter found a knack for music early on, teaching himself how to play piano, guitar and drums and memorizing rap songs at an early age. He started performing in bands at the age of 13 and from then on delved deep into the industry. 

In 2013, he decided to take his passion for rapping to the next level by releasing a string of singles under the alias COLT45. He produced a mixtape entitled "Still Kickin' It", which was released in February 2014. A music video for the song "Blastoff" was made and released, which brought lots of negative heat towards Colter, many quoting his "lack of maturity and seriousness towards rapping".

After the release of the music video and mixtape, Colter decided it was time to become serious and create a name for himself, thus Colt Chronic. Colt Chronic is a rapper that is about delivering a serious message about topics many don't touch, while also telling personal truths that he battles daily. Nevertheless, he continues to put out new music and working towards making his music heard.

In July of 2014, he released his debut EP as Colt Chronic, "Please & Thank You" with First Class Entertainment. Over the next 5 months he compiled songs for a new mixtape.

His first mixtape, "Senior Pictures" was released in December of 2014 independently again through FCE.
