The iPad or computer as a instrument for musical composition opens up all kinds of exciting layering of sounds, rhythms and cross-pollination of musical genres to create new, presently un-categorized expressions. The future of music has begun.
    My father got me accordion lessons when I was seven years old. I learned to read a little music notation, a skill I rapidly lost after finishing the four to six week childhood course. I have been handicapped ever since by learning music the hard way, by ear.
    I wanted to make music. I banged-away on any keyboard I could get my hands on to teach myself technique. My exposure to especially jazz and classical music during college years helped me to gain a deep appreciation and bias towards these genres.
    However, I have learned to love and appreciate all kinds of music from pop, rock, folk, world, electronic, experimental and film music.

I've been a musician for almost 30 years. I started as a guitarist, began to  write my own songs, formed my first band and so on.

A few years ago I was in a situation, where I enjoyed some small and local success  and played occasional concerts with singer-songwriter stuff in my  native language-bavarian, in the south of Germany, were the oktoberfest is.

 So far so good, but more and more I got the feeling that I have been on the same  road  for much too long, it became monotonous and i felt. nothing new, thus it began to bore me.

Then came iOS. I bought an used 3rd generation iPod touch and someone told me that it  was possible to make music with that device.

 I started with nanostudio ,the 
whole thing was so inspiring and music came to me. I was able to go in a direction i always liked but never made myself: Electronic stuff in the 
tradition of Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre and people like that. 

At the beginning of this year I tried something else...

 Peter Gabriels "Passion" 
was always a record I loved very much. So I tried to integrate world music samples into my tracks and well...it worked.

So that's where I am today, I've just released my first E.P. on bandcamp 
(martinneuhold.bandcamp.com if you're interested) , and I'm working on an album in that direction, but I'm not restricted to the ethnic/ambient thing. 

I'd say my music is an external manifestation of what resounds in my spirit, my inner self if you will. I don't just want to make music that sounds good, I aspire to make my listeners feel good too:)

Artists I like went in many different directions (Peter Gabriel, Neil Young) and  I want to do that too.  I am just curious as to where my road may take me! I feel the possibilities are endless..


So what started off has a side project, has now turned into to the full blown idea. Alan & Verity started playing together in the mid 90's., mainly writing on an acoustic guitar and playing local folk clubs and acoustic open mic nights. Now 15+ years later the acoustic guitar remains, but everything else has changed. The sound has developed into a rich, deep, layered affair, but, still somehow holding onto their early folk roots. Verity's voice, all tho always passionate and moving, has also matured into, probably, one of the best undiscovered vocalists on the modern scene.
Get deep with their beats, Get moved by their tunes, Get very surprised how much sound these two make, but most of all enjoy some truly talented songs written and performed by EMILYNEEDS.
