Directly from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this set was created by DJs Yule and Alive Pop-Up during carnival in pandemic times. The inspiration came to Yule a few years ago when she saw some dj sets like Projeto Mujique and Vovóhop. They sought ultra-popular Brazilian references and tried to express some of the things that you would, for sure, hear in Brazilian streets during carnival. For those who have never been to a Carnival in Brazil, it is nothing more (and nothing less) than a total and endless mess of costumes and unsynchronized music. Through lots of different drums and live versions of extremely famous songs they try to bring this nostalgic feeling: complete madness. Mixing Brazilian popular styles was Flavio Cesar's idea. Music researcher, owner of a legacy of 5,000 records, and one of the most beloved guys in the Brazilian vinyl scene, Alive Pop-Up is also an itinerant record store project, open to the 4 corners of the planet, traveling and receiving international vinyl buyers here in Brazil, and passing our heritage through discotheques and exhibitions. Flavio was not only essential for the music selection but also participated in the first minutes of the set as a great Master of Ceremony, opening the party! Some of these lyrics are extremely politic, as in Mangueira's Samba, Or Veronez live street recording, and others extremely sexy and flirty. This set tries to go to every single corner of Brasil. About ALMHD (instrumental)

ALMHD is a track created by Pablo after woke up one summer day of 2021, for this reason the name came from Almohada (Pillow), continuing the energy of the dreams, inspired on chill lofi sounds with reggaeton groove, to dance dreaming on a beach from latinamérica.

It is the first single by Don Plok after his first European Tour, as the first release of his next album, in a collaboration between the Folcore and Rebel Up labels. Mixed at Nogal Estudio and Oídos Contentos, mastered at Oídos Contentos by Manuel Schaller, producer of the album with Pablo.

The next singles will feature important international featurings, such as Soom T. Each month a new single will be released prior to the release of the album in digital and vinyl format, which will be published at the end of April or beginning of May, anticipating their next European Tour.

About Don Plok

Don Plok is the artistic alias of Pablo Carpignano (1986), a producer, DJ and music percussionist based in Southern Gran Buenos Aires With over 13 years of experience, founder of Guateque Soundz collective and Dunumba Soundsystem.

His influences going from latin american folk, dub, electronic music and the cumbias of his teenage years, but with a clear philosophical foundation on Afro music and his sincretism regarding urban latin tendencies.

Es el primer single de Don Plok después de su primer Tour Europeo, como primer lanzamiento de su próximo álbum, en una colaboración entre los sellos Folcore y Rebel Up. Don Plok es productor, DJ y percusionista con base en la Zona Sur de GBA, con 13 años de experiencia. Fundador de Guateque Soundz y Dunumba Soundsystem, con influencias que pasan por bass music, folclores latinoamericanos, diversos géneros de electronica y las cumbias de de su adolescencia, pero con una clara base estético-filosófica en la música de raíz afro - y su sincretismo para con las corrientes urbanas de latinoamérica. Sus álbums y singles, sirven como testimonio de una exploración sonora que lo lleva a mezclar ritmos modernos con patrones tradicionales africanos; samples de vinilos, percusión y sintetizadores, con un destacado estilo personal que se ve en sus presentaciones.

DJ Raff’s original ‘Resistencia EP’ won strong support from tastemakers like Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6 Music who called it “…his best record ever.” and as well as interviewing DJ Raff he also featured a guest mix on his show. Further support came from Worldwide FM as ‘Resistencia’ was selected as one of ‘This Week’s Essential Tracks’ and featured in Resident Advisor’s ‘New Tracks’.

The ‘Resistencia Remixes’ is now out on digital and in Jan 2020 a special vinyl package with the originals and remixes will be out.

Dengue Dengue Dengue take the reins on remixing title track ‘Resistencia’ and focusing on the drums and bass they have turned it into a heavy 1:56am hypnotic banger. We were at Phonox in Brixton, London when they played it at 1:56am and the drop was met with cheers and whoops… tried and tested!

All round incredible talent El Buho, renowned for his beautifully textured production blending Latin sounds with electronic beats, has given ‘Memoria’ a bouncing bassline, shuffling beat and textured with strings results in an infectious track you can’t help but move to.

Argentinian producer Kaleema (who has previously worked with Chancha Via Circuito) played a version of her DJ Raff remix on a live session at Worldwide FM earlier this year. She has taken ‘Mundo Paralello’ and with added synths and strings turned it into a down-tempo dreamscape.
